Default Steven Sahardjo - Bajaj Pulsar Transmogrified!

Steven Sahardjo, a graphic designer from Indonesia, and a die-hard Pulsar fan, sent us his creations inspired by hi sdreams of seeing his favorite bike Pulsar in Different Avatars.

BIOGRAPHY:
Name: Steven Sahardjo
Nickname: Morukai
Location: Jakarta, Indonesia
Qualification: Graphic Design, Diploma in Visual Communication of Design
Working As: Digital Imaging Artist, Graphics Designer, Blogger
Age: 30
Current Bike: Bajaj Pulsar 180 UG3
Dream Bike: BMW R1200 GS Adventure

Bajaj Pulsar has a unique character of design, which is what actually prompted me to modify its design and so I created the artwork that you see on these pages using Adobe Photoshop. All creative work makes the bike totally different from the original, except for a few signature parts that are indisputably ‘Pulsar’ and I have left them as they are.

I have owned a Bajaj Pulsar 180 UG3 since 2008. The concepts that I have used in modifying the Pulsar here come from various sports-bikes from across the globe. I hope that Bajaj Auto will produce a large motorcycle 300 cc-1000 cc in the future.

Bajaj Pulsar 135 [Police version]
The Bajaj Pulsar 135 has good performance, what with its lightweight and that 4-valve 13.5 bhp engine. It should make a good police, especially for Indonesia where nimble handling and quick engine response are very important for police riding. As a police bike, the Pulsar 135 needs an upgrade with some support equipment. And so I have placed a side box, tool bag in the backseat, strobe lights, engine guard and entire body has been painted in white, the universal colour of Police bikes while adding some police decals.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 [Next Generation]
Bajaj Pulsar 220 is called the "The Fastest Indian Bike.” It looks totally different from previous generation Pulsars because of its half-fairing and projector type headlamp. I have changed the rear suspension to mono-shock type, added an engine cover and redesigned the seat cowl to show more muscle. I have also painted the body and rims with the combination of dark cyan blue and go|d. Then, some details such as front and rear reflectors, adapted from American styling, have been added. I have also modified the fairing to add a touch of dynamism to it.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 {Sport Touring}
This is the most extreme modifications that I have made on Bajaj Pulsar 220, inspite of retaining some parts in their original form. Front and rear suspensions are taken from Honda CBR1000R. Half fairing customized with KTM Super Duke 990 bike. A bottom fairing adopted from Buell XB1 2XT 2008 to look more muscular. I have used a single-sided swing arm from the BMW F800S and exhaust muffler from BMW R1200 GS Adventure. To add spice and for a strong impression, I also added a part of the frame from Ducati Multistrada 1100. The strength of the design has made me christen it as a Sport Tourer.

Bajaj Pulsar 600 [Naked Bike]
Because Bajaj and Kawasaki look like two synonymous brands, it inspired me to adopt the Kawasaki Versys 650 as the basic design of this Pulsar. I have adapted the design elements of the Versys to that of the Pulsar. The major difference was in the relative sizes of both the bikes with the Versys being considerably larger than the Pulsar. The resulting design is an almost all-terrain motorcycle, all the more emphasized by the high handlebar, tank and the high seat.

Bajaj Pulsar 850 [Supermoto]
The Bajaj Pulsar Supermoto is almost similar to Bajaj Pulsar 600 Naked Bike, where the basic chassis is taken from BMW F800S somehow gels well with the Pulsar. The design is primarily in Supermoto style, which is apparent from its high front fender. Since the Pulsar body has dimensions similar to the BMW F800S frame, the latter seems well suited to it. I have high hopes that some day Bajaj will bring out a Supermoto variant of the Pulsar, of course with a larger engine and I even hope for an Enduro version.

Goes on to prove why Bajaj needs to let go that Pulsar tank theme!

+1. The Pulsars do look dated in most of the pics.
