Hi Guys
I have D/L with Kerala address. Is it possible to change the address to Bangalore? The reason is to get a valid address proof here in Bangalore. I only have a rental agreement and couple of bills as an address proof here. Help of any kind would be great..

I suggest you get yourself a Karnataka License too. It won't cost much and with people who work as agents can get you the license real quick. No worries about that. There are somethings I can't disclose here, you can PM me.
Besides, all over Bangalore, rental agreement is taken as a Valid Address Proof. So if its address proof you are looking for, no worries, rental agreement is also valid. For mobile connections, taking bike in your name, etc. Besides that, you can also give your company's HR letter which should clearly mention your address. So a combo of HR letter + Rental Agreement is very strong valid address proof. That is what I gave to get Karnataka License. |

^^^ your suggestion shows how casual our (Indian) attitude is towards driving licenses and the privilege that is called driving. Please don't take this personally but what you are suggesting is illegal. Legally, you CANNOT have 2 different licenses from 2 different states the same way you cannot have 2 passports (unless you are working for Government of India and your position and work demands diplomatic status).
The same way that you cannot have 2 Voter ID cards and the same way you cannot have 2 PAN numbers. If you are ever caught with such 2 different documents you are liable for prosecution under criminal acts. @roadster: there is a solution to your problem, which not many people know of. You will need to go to your local RTO i.e. the Bangalore RTO under which your current residence falls. You will need to go with valid proof of your residence. Ask them for a form for endorsement of present address. Submit the form along with your Kerala driving license, proof of residence and the RTO will endorse the Bangalore address on to your Kerala driving license. They will also inform the relevant Kerala RTO to update their records. What I have mentioned above is the correct and legal way of doing things. However, sadly most people are looking for an easy way out with a 'chalta hai' attitude. The choice is yours.

@meet_ur_heart @RanjithMN @ajaymanohar and @abhimanyu31
Thanks a lot for replying guys.. @ajaymanohar I came to know from an agent that I could take another D/L from here without much ado. But being wary of the issues if I get caught having two documents, I had already taken that option out.. The rental agreement/HR doc won't work all the time. There are situations where the officials need a GOVT doc as the address proof. I did a little research in the mean time and found this.I believe an address change in the D/L possible as it is also mentioned it in the RTO site. Transport Department @abhimanyu31 Thx a lot for that info bro.. Is it the same thing mentioned above that you are suggesting? Any idea like what are the accepted proofs of address that I need to produce for this? I would like to get this done legally..

^^^ The documents and the process will be more or less the same... the form will be for endorsement of 'present' address... you will need to make more inquires with your local RTO. Also note that a registered lease deed or leave & license agreement cannot be denied by the RTO as proof of address. If anyone at the RTO refuses to accept the same, ask them to give you in writing and then file an RTI application asking them to why registered documents are not accepted as proof of residence.

Thx.. I will check out the details..
Any idea like how long the process takes? The D/L has to be surrendered that long right?
