Arrow Effect of petrol hike on Xbhpians

Hi All,

The recent petrol hike has forced me to tighten my spendings, I just wondered what would other fellow bhpians do to stick on to their bikes despite petrol rates hikes.

Not all of us have deep pockets to shell out more than Rs.3000/month on petrol (I mean for daily commuting)

So what steps have you taken to ensure that your set of wheels are still with you.......vrooming......

And what would be the approx. month/ year for petrol in India to hot century mark?

hehehehe...nice thought.....indeed i would like to chalk out the exact spending on my wheels....
i think with UPA govrnment in place....it would take just 4-5 months to hit century mark....as they need more money from public to do fullfil their carving for corruption.

Ride slowly and allow everyone to overtake , Avoid busy roads , walk for shorter distance rather than taking bike

Iam happy that my office is located in baner which is 24 kms away one way and 48kms overall (two way).....but one thing which makes it a good ride is that all the 48 kms are spent on NH-4!!!!
Every morning i decide not to exceed above 4,000 Rpm but its still not manageable....i just cant drive that slow and when the two lane is empty!!! i keep the bike around 6,000rpm which is dot 80kmph speed!!!! there is this one stretch which i love and is banked on the left!!!! on this stretch I blast through speeds like 120 and 130..redlining ever cubic capacity installed......

Weekly Xbhp trips have taken a backseat since the rising fuel prices....Weekly expenditure on fuel is Rs 600!!!!

At times use my mum's aviator which has full tank most of the times!!!!!

But yes this price rise has taken a toll on bikers all over the country!!!
Soon we will be shedding a note for liter!!!!!

The electric bikes are just around the corner & soon we may all shift to it, its only a question of time. By God's grace, I'm able to afford for fuel now, so no use in whining. There's no change in my existing consumption.

My office is just 3.5 kms away from home - 5 mins approx and now in place of R15, i am using my Electric scooter to commute daily.
