So,with no viable options available within my budget for an upgrade and with plans for a substantial one in the future i had to stick with my beloved FZ16 for couple more years.
And then came in the offerings from RaceConcepts.Mighty impressed with the Tuned R15's i ordered the FFE. Delivery was delayed for almost an exhausting 6 months and i finally got it.Better late than Never. I intend to go for the complete kit step by step and would use this thread to share my experiences. 1.Exhausted ![]() So my first step was the FFE.Nothing new here in terms of looks. Its the typical RaceConcepts exhaust.Weighs hardly about 3 kgs i believe. ![]() ![]() 1.Installation Pretty simple and straight forward. As usual it was a DIY job for me. There are overall 5 bolts to be unbolted including the 2 to the head.Remember to place new Exhaust Gaskets. The center stand doesnt need to be removed but it will bang on to the FFE every time.also the rear brake pedals rod is slightly under pressure being pushed a little by the FFE-it keeps scratching against it too. 2.Sound Again its sounds petty much the same as the FFE's for the R15 & P220-Loud and basy But this one comes with a DB Killer and boy its a blessing! Cuts down the noise by at least 20%.at idle its pretty much silent and with a ralxed riding in the city it isn't all that noticeable!esp. next to the auto's. 5th gear @ 2.5k RPM its very very silent-idle for evading cops. Im attaching couple of vids.It doesn't really show the difference though. The DB Killer ![]() ![]() 3.Performance With the DB Killer i couldn't notice much of a difference at the low end/<5kRPM but at about 7k RPM there is a rush and it pulls much much better and red-lines much easier. UPDATE-Rode yesterday without the DB Killer-its seems to pull better at lower revs at 5th gear and especially between 4.5-6.5k .there is a very nice increase in torque through out the rev-range! Thats about it now.But ill be updating with my experiences soon. PS-It dint come with any stickers :-\ :P

Congratulations and as I thought, your exhaust is Gen 3 but its shape is like the Gen 2, straight.

Congrats !
Wishing you a happy Joel-ing experience ! Btw , ride the bike for 2 days without the dB killer and the results are : 1) youll find that the dB killer really does hamper the performance 2) If you put the dB killer back , you find the bike almost "silent" coz youre used to the actual FFE sound ! 3) Even without the dB killer , belw 4k rpm , cops will not bother.

Installed friday. Mine is giving a FE of about 45 when riding at speeds about 80. The bike for the first time since purchase redlined and top speed reached was 123(being sunday and a road of only 3km straight with little traffic). will go faster, but not enough roads here. All that with db killer. not tried without. with a pillion(my brother who weighs about 95kg and myself another 75kg) the bike did manage 109 top and refused to go further, may be because the suspension was set to 1 step to softest.

Interesting to hear the sound of this exhaust, even if it may not be hi-fi, and thanks for posting it!
I am thinking of another approach, keeping the good looking (and well designed heat shield!) stock muffler but taking off the also called "midship" exhaust that's under the bike. The FZ16 (and -S, Fazer) not only have a resonator under the bike but also a catalytic converter. The restriction caused by this catalytic converter impedes the gas flow considerably and creates back-pressure in ANY engine. To just take off this "midship" exhaust and replace it by a piece of pipe will cancel this restriction, at the cost of higher pollution of course, although one must precise that a catalytic converter only functions once at max temperature: before that: it's a nuisance, and that's all! The muffler sited on the right side of the bike is also a resonator and has certainly been tuned to the frequencies occurring after this "midship" exhaust, meaning that simply taking off the central resonator + catalytic converter may not be very efficient and this side muffler may need some delicate fine tuning. Reading the serious design flaw in this FFE (that it hits both the brake pedal and the central stand, which I have commented on the "owners experience" thread) makes me consider this other option even more seriously. Has anybody tried it???

I am yet to test it below 65, where my stock exhaust used to give 48-50kmpl. I am currently trying to test that but it is hard to maintain below that speed. |

@ RanjithMN
Very nice bro and thanks for the video showing the difference between W and W/O DB Killer. also bro keep the camera 1 or 2 meters away from the bike so that we will get clear and more exact sound.Just my thought, not sure though.
