Aha, a post 8 years old... But it was fun reading through.

1. Don't touch the carburettor unless you're sure there's a problem in it OR it has been mis-tuned by someone for sure. 2. If you're sure that it has a problem/ mis-tuning that service personnel don't attempt to correct, then do something about it yourself: Your bike's Carb should be having 3 major screws (speaking about BS26/ UCAL): AFR, Idle RPM and drainage. See them below: ![]() Do these steps to adjust it: 1. Switch the fuel knob to off and drain the carb's dirty fuel by opening the drainage screw for 30 seconds or so. Let the fuel flow but be very sure that no naked flame/ heat source is nearby. Then, tighten the drainage screw back and switch on the fuel. 2. Tighten the AFR screw fully (towards right) and then unscrew it full 3 circles (1080 degrees). 3. Ride around the town for 4-5 kms in hot weather, and then adjust the Idle rpm screw so that it shows 1500 rpm idling while the engine is heated up. 4. Again the next morning, see if your bike starts in first crank. If it starts with rpm needle around 1000-1100 or so, then your work is done and leave it like that! If not, proceed to Step 5. 5. If the rpm is too high in the morning start (like above 1200), adjust AFR screw towards right (tighten it by 0.25 circle) until it is 1000-1100 rpm. OR If it doesn't start in the morning start, adjust the AFR screw towards left (loosen it) in small steps (0.25 circle) and crank it after each attempt, After getting it started at 1000 rpm or so, go back to step 3 (ride it for 4-5 kms, adjust idle rpm again to 1500) and come back to step 4, UNTIL Your cold start shows 1000~ rpm and heated up engine idles at 1500~ rpm. TUNERS NOTE: Be aware that morning start+ idling also depends on the season, Oxygen in the atmosphere and the air temperature. This guide is ONLY to correct some extreme mistunings to the carb. Also, different bikes have different idlings, so adjust accordingly. Quote:
