UD bhai,
Our man is giving a hyperbole to illustrate the futility of the argument. All he's said is that brash/sore thumb/standout behavior gets noticed - whether it be a loud pipe that's downright insensitive to others' ear drums whether it be a lunatic burning public retinae with his safari with 4 white HIDs in stock reflectors, whether it be a lunatic zig zagging and cutting traffic irresponsibly. Or one could just be nice to everyone and get bike decals like the Castrol ZMA, wear good gear, look cool and be hip. Or buy the R15 Rather, the Enfield Classic. Mama mia. PS: The day Oakland gets indisciplined killer call center indicabs, we'll see their stand on the issue!

Loud Pipes on indian roads..ahaa
!!...i would prefer staying home ..on a serious note..in the West Bikes with Loud pipes do get noticed..for a fact any bike gets noticed cos the bikes are far and few!!..however..back in our motherland..so much traffic..so much honking..why the hell would we need loud pipes..!!You riding a big bang!! bike might make you feel like you are gettin noticed..but whats the use of getting noticed with all the curses and abuses from fellow road users?

I don't know why you guys are stuck in Mumbai traffic instead of thinking of Highway conditions

Come on. Now this is downright ridiculous. As if 99% here have separate bikes for mumbai traffic and separate for touring.
I know enough bulleteers personally who have loud pipes and who do 50% of their riding (min) in city - even you'd do some 700-1000km a month in Mumbai city na? Loud pipes are downright irritating for others and are essentially an irritant - I can't focus on traffic, nor hear my own phone/mp3 - its a bloody intrusion of privacy. How'd you like if someone kept playing himezzzzzzz at full volume with windows down, next to you? I wouldn't. Even on highways, I prefer to spare my eardrums, and if at all, listen to my mp3 music than someone else's pipes - I keep loud pipe guys as far away as I can.

You haven't ever heard a loud pipe have you ? ![]() It would be enough for that Road Train to notice a biker and very important as well.

I agree to 2write while considering the conditions in USA. I hardly noticed bikers while driving there (I was also an SUV driver
)! But in India, the loud pipes may not serve the same purpose.Whatever... Thanks 2write for giving me one more point to convince myself to get a tuned pipe for my bike!

UD ji,
The appropriate tool is a dog horn or pressure horn, if you will. Trumps most loud pipes and 99.99% of the time is not a public nuisance.
