Default How do you save your shoes? (Toe-only gear shift lever)

To start with, I would like to wish all xBhp members a Happy Diwali! Coming to the point, I have a simple question… How do you save your shoes from damage caused by the toe-only gear shift lever?

PS: It would be great if FZ16 owners can state how bad the FZ16’s gear shift lever is when it comes to the above mentioned problem.

You can protect your shoes from getting dirty by cleaning the gear shifter every morning before you ride. Besides the shoes get damaged if the gearshift is hard. New bikes FZ 16, R15 or the Apache RTR have relatively soft gearshift which doesnot damage the shoes so much it only makes them dirty.

Use a duct tape or something similar cello tape?? and wrap it around the toe shifter! that's the only way to save ur shoes.. i have similar problems on my disco.. my old shoe was bout to get a hole where i used to shift gears regularly as i never use the heel shifter!

If I am actively riding outside Mumbai I have to buy new shoes every 6 months.

there's this sponge based housing generally seen in the A/C housing of the car....
get ur hands on that, you can cover the round tip of the lever with that,it's black in colour and won't be damaging ur NIKE"S or REEBOK's!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds good, I'll see if I can get my hands on what you suggest and if it works out. Buying new shoes every 3-4 months is pointless when good shoes cost around 5,000/- a pair

My shoes survived over months. I Ride a Suzuki Shogun, i use toe only shifting and i shift gears very often. My shoes are made out of leather. Zero damage caused to the shoe. The best part is, it costs just about 2k.

i ride an RTR and that too has only a toe shifter. but i have noticed that nothing has happened to my leather office shoe after 9 months, however there is a slight discoloration on casual shoe like woodlands and such, but no damage.
