From what I have experienced, ABS did not seem that it took longer to stop. On the contrary, most tests show that it stops faster. Try stopping a car with and without ABS and you will notice the difference. You have both options on some models in India.

KEN that was a really good write up. it was like knowing a SBK in detail.
i always want to buy a superbike, would buy one soon inshan allah. it would be my first bike, though i have ridden a superbike, i actually never thought of the points you mentioned in your write up. infact after reading it has given me the jitters and have actually made me think over my decision to buy a bike. specially the points regarding breaking in of tires and brakes..

Nothing to discuss mate. I'm no expert and have not done any controlled testing, I haven't even driven a non ABS car for a long time now; I'm just repeating what I've heard fairly often and see recently on a TV show (discovery or something like that).
Of course you are free to PM me anytime mate. Whether to discuss this or any other topic or just general banter ![]() SF |

So, how about Hornet? I heard it sacrificed some 25 horses from CBR 600's 4 cyls in order to have this Mid Range punch ... and given a Top Speed drop from 270 to 225 kmph from CBR to Hornet ... it means overall gearing is lower ... right? Say, after all these factors, can I drive in 4-5th gear around about 60-80 ... Thanks! please reply ... Last edited by Samarth 619; 10-25-2008 at 07:04 PM. |

There is not a lot that would difer between a hornet and a 600rr, some more power slightly lower on the rpm guage, and thats about it. If you are looking for soemthing you do not have to rev the tits off, look away from an inline four. V-twins are for you then.

Also, take into Account Lower Gearing of Hornet. CBR may see 270+ but Hornet stops at around 225 something ... for only -20 bhp, that's a big difference in Top Speeds... So, considering lower gearing, is it possible for city driving in high gears ??... |

But why exactly are you leaning towards being able to ride in 5ht & 6th gear?
