Default Honda Wing World - Exclusive showroom of Honda's Superbikes!

The 'Honda Wing World', located in the Naraina Industrial Area, in New Delhi is one of the two exclusive showrooms that Honda has opened in INDIA for the sales & service of their premium motorcycles, namely:

1. Honda CBR 1000RR
2. Honda CB 1000R

Two members from xBhp, namely me and Kamal (xBhp ID: Koolscorptheking) were lucky enough to visit the showroom yesterday to cover it through photographs. We also managed to have a brief conversation with the staff present there, who were really cordial and very co-operative during this whole one hour (or so) shoot of the showroom.

Apart from the hospitality of the staff, and the people present there, what struck me the most was the fact that Honda is actually providing 'Rider Training Program' to all it's customers who have, till date, bought their superbikes. During this training program, not only the riders are provided practical biking exercises, on no less than Honda CB400, they are also equipped with theoretical classes on how to ride specifically on Indian conditions.

After a rider completes this training, he/ she is awarded with a certificate, from Honda too! Kudos to Honda for doing so much to promote safety. We also had a detailed look on both the machines and the safety standards provided on the machines were phenomenal too!

The bikes come equipped with Honda's security system - H.I.S.S. It was also interesting to know that the 1000RR has a electronic steering damper. I am not sure how it actually works, or how functional a electronic damper is, but from what I was told, it sounded pretty confidence inspiring nonetheless. Needless to say, the 1000RR also comes fully equipped with a Combined ABS (C-ABS) system, whereby it really helps during panic breaking situations. The front and rear shocks of the 1000RR are adjustable for preload, compression and rebound

As far as the CB goes, it comes with it's own sweet list of features too. It comes fitted with a two piston caliper REAR brake (which is really not seen too often in these big bikes), and a 4-piston caliper brake upfront. The beauty of the CB1000R cannot be defined in words. One has to see it to believe how gorgeous the machine looks. Right from the headlight to the instrumentation console, the beautifully sculpted gas tank to the single sided swingarm(!!), the gorgeous 4-spoke cast aluminum wheels to the LED tail lights - everything exudes pure passion and beauty of the machine.

Here are a few excerpts off the CB1000R's brochure, which I found interesting:

"The aggressive, edgy, yet perfectly composed CB1000R's predatory profile surfs the cut and thrust of city streets with unbelievable cool, and tears up the twisty terrain for the seer thrill of it."

"Smooth power delivery as well as on tap thrills when you feel like caling upon them."

"Alluring. Intimidating. Irresistible"

Apart from adding glamour to its appearance, the lightweight naked frame design of the CB gives the rider a great riding experience. The forward bent orientation helps position the rider slightly forward and seemingly above its dynamic four cylinder 998cc engine. This compactness of the bike takes the rider closer to the steering handle and thereby giving the rider greater comfort and swift control that is a unique differentiator between a sports bike and the regular bikes.

Of special mention here is the instrumentation of the CB1000R. The dash is small with a horizontal digital rev counter sitting over a slightly too small (according to me) digital speedometer. Tell tale lights are the usual suspects and the switchgear is all where it should be.

A few highlights of the CB1000R:

- Same compact and lightweight 998cm³ liquid-cooled fuel-injected inline-4 engine as 2007 CBR1000RR Fireblade, but retuned for stronger low-to-midrange power and torque and breathtaking acceleration.

- Compact, high-pressure 12-hole fuel injectors in 36mm throttle bodies provide optimal fuel atomisation and cylinder filling for top performance.

- Power output focused on both torque and linearity, providing a stronger rush through the powerband than nearly every other motorcycle in its class.

- Magnesium cylinder head and ACG cover reduce engine weight.

- Newly designed engine side covers feature eye-catching new nickel-plated bolt-head look.

- Liquid-cooled oil cooler like that used on 2007 CBR1000RR Fireblade.

- Independent ignition and fuel injection mapping for each cylinder.

- Re-engineered transmission feature remarkably smooth and easy gear change action.

- Light-action hydraulic clutch can be engaged at less than 2,000rpm without fear of engine stalling, thanks to optimised low-end torque output.

The showroom also had a 'simulator' where the rider can actually ride the machines (in this simulator), and get a feel of the whole thing. It is really good to see Honda doing so much to increase knowledge about safe riding amongst it's customers. This simulator has been designed specifically keeping in mind the Indian riding conditions, and as we were demonstrated later, it really seemed to work too!

There is also a FULLY functional service area where the superbikes can be easily serviced and diagonosed for any kind of problems/ issues that they might have. There is a dyno installed on the service area too. Not only this, HONDA has also made apparels (riding jackets, gloves, lids, etc.) available under this roof too. So, you can buy your superbike, get yourself some riding gears too, at the same time.

We also got to know that 'Fireblah', the official owner of the CBR 1000RR from Kolkata, bought his CBR from here, and he also undertook a full 2-day training program as well!

That's great! Some sweet rides and a nice place for it. Now, Honda riders will feel special (umm?!... some of them actually)..

Would have been nicer if they had a bigger range of vehicles to sell, like that VFR, Smaller CBR's, etc, but not bad anyways ...

Wow great info aryan da. And really appreciate Honda's efforts to promote safe biking with training program and all. In fact one of our fellow xBhpian (Id:Fireblah) owns a fireblade who had taken this training at manesar ( Info from his thread titled My Little Wonder). He has even providede some pictures of the CB400 and the training area.. According to him this training can be taken by anyone who wishes to. Is it like that?

Very very nice. Honda seems to be going in a different direction from Yamaha in terms of their CBU program. Going by the pics and what Aryan says, can't fault them much except for not rolling out fast enough. They're losing on sales big time by being so slow.

But all said and done, that looks like a beautiful setup. Owners of these bikes must feel pampered, and the bikes taken care of well. Looks like Honda has it covered for now.

I'd love to get my hands dirty with a bike in that workshop. Plus they have a very important must-have in a service centre meant for high performance machines: A dyno!

Now, all that's left is the personnel to be properly trained. Honda, am sure is doing something to this effect, after having put in so much effort and money in facilities like these.

Great. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case.

This is great news! Honda are actually doing here what they are famous all over the world - provide a quality biking experience. This will tempt even more people to choose Honda over other competing SBK makers. Hope our homegrown companies too gets inspired by this.
