Even I was caught on the same stretch. Same bloody reason, i was well below 60 kmph. I just did not budge to their pressure. The very same reason telling that they will book for rash driving and all. I just said seize my bike, put up a case and told them i will appoint an advocate immediately and I called up my friend's sister who is an advocate. Then I started noting their names and started enquiring from which jurisdiction they were from. They the guy sitting inside the jeep got out and start preaching that overspeeding is not good and they are posted at this place to bring awareness. Then they finally let me go.

@ALL: Guys ensure you are in either the middle lane or the left lane and be well below 60 to avoid these morons. If they still stop you, dont budge, dont budge

So better watch out for this spot ..

Yeah its kind of on a downhill left curve. Without realising you go over the speed limit on the slope.

Whats GQ bro? Like you have also noticed, there are no such signboards on this stretch. And if the speed limit is really 60 for bikers, they better put up such signboards.
Do they expect us to know what the rulebook has to say for each stretch of road here..!

Dude! You must see how the cops here stop people on 2-wheelers. No point evading them. & more often than not, they have backup units few metres ahead. So yahan nahi toh aagey pakad lenge. & then you can't even argue you're innocent (even though you may be)..

+1
You must argue with the BTP cops.. They can't do much if you take a firm stand against them..
& to give you guys an idea of how brave BTP cops are, they caught me while I was on the right-most lane of the 3 lane HIGHWAY!

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back;
and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

@ all: Interceptors have been there for quite some time now in Chennai.
These guys are like kids with new toys... Once they are done with toys and new given authority even this will get boring.... If a Traffic police tries to stop me, here i stop make him eat his own words and get lost from there......

@tibby:
Honestly, you were stopped because you own an R15.... SIMPLE !!!

Where I live in Delhi, as soon as you exit the coclony's main road to the Outer Ring road, there is a police barricade and I have always seen motorcyclist being stopped there. I do not know why. You can not speed over there even you are Rossi -its so congested and narrow. I think its becos people on commuter bikes are easy prey. In your case - R15 means - rich guy, will give bribe easily. Its just pure business sense for the cop. (Remember they never joined the police to help people in the first place). He is in the business of extracting bribes. Simple!

I am glad that you took a stand. One should be aware of their rights and should sticck with the princinples, be confident and not budge under pressure. Its not matter of few bucks. It a matter of principle. Do not forget you paid for that cop's salary!

the big pain is for the outstation guys who dont know the language.

and more over when a cop says he will cease the bike it is a shocker. and we just try and get the hell out of there by paying what ever it is we have to.
Will have to start standing up to them cops from now on i guess. this is happening way too often and to way too many people.

@All: I just realised that some of you might not be aware of Interceptor that I have mentioned in the 1st post. Well, interceptor is a jeep of the BTP (Bangalore Traffic Police), that has a high-tech speed gun, and a camera which is connected to a laptop. Each interceptor costs 21 Lakh INR & is used to capture images & speeds of vehicles approaching the interceptor. It can record speeds & images of vehicles moving at a distance as far away as 1.5 Kms from the device, but moving towards it.

@Members from Bangalore: Please feel free to share your 'not so pleasant encounters' with BTP, in this thread!
when they see bikes like r15 and fz ,these losers get ready 2 catch you even though u are far away ,happened many times 2 me

This is bad! I am wondering if there were things like this in Hyderabad, I would be caught every single day!
Anyways, I recently stopped here for a routine check&they didn't want to see my RC, even after stopping me. It was under the seat btw.
I agree that most of these cops are out to make a buck, but their main targets are college kids. I made it a point to stay out of their way when I was in college.

They are tying to recover 21lakhs what they have spent
even i feel its useless . Many times near command hospital i have seen these bugger catching ppl. even speldor / platina guys are not spared. What the hec. In one way its good but these guys need to be reasonable . its not possible to ride at 60kmph when roads are empty. i have seen cops on pulsars ripping on airport road . who will monitor them
