shark on the prowl!!!

I was once caught for over speeding in Koramangala inner ring road(towars Indira Nagar) on my bullet 500.
The Cop pulled me aside and said that I was overspeeding. I asked how much was i doing, they showed me the pic taken of my bike with 80 written on it. I was like, "no way, I was doing 120". He said "no saar, you were doing 80" ![]() I told him, there is something wrong with their interceptor and get it fixed, paid him 100 bucks and moved on. |

I was doing 170kph in my dads car and didn't bother to stop when the cops waved me down. Bill came home a week later
I don't cross 70 now even if provoked by smaller cars.

Seems the interceptors have disappeared from CV Raman road for the time being (the stretch from Sadashivnagar Police Station upto Mekhri Circle). Also there used to be one after the curve near Le Meriden but thats also gone.

Been meaning to reply for some time but something or the other stopped me.
Before is say anything let me tell you that i ride quite hard and fast but i don't ride rash, there is a difference. And mostly i avoid paying bribes. Please don't. If you know you were over speeding please own up and pay. Paying 100 to him will just make him greedy and catch more people whether or not they were over-speeding. Now, if the speed limit is 60 you can do 60 and if someone catches you well go fight for it. They can't challan you for overspeeding till the time they have got an interceptor which has your bike's number and speed you were doing. Otherwise as far as i know it is not legally acceptable. If you have time you can go fight in the court. Tell them you won't pay and they can issue a challan. Any cop asking for money and not giving you a receipt or a challan is just a crook. Not down his name and call 100 and tell them. As far as arguing is concerned, you have every right to ask why you are booked and whatever else you might want to know. As far as i remember you were caught for overspeeding and when argued they added rash driving too. It will be difficult to prove in court that you were driving rashly if the speed gun showed you were doing just 62. While the speed limit was 60. Don't let them fool or scare you. I know am talking like an idealist as no one has the time to go to courts, but if you have go make a fight out of it. If you don't pay the fine, never the bribe. Also it helps to know what are the fines for various offences. And never, ever pay money without taking a receipt that mentions your offence. And that offence should match with what you were told that you were being booked under. |

But again the point is not what's the limit, the point is that whether the limit that has been imposed is appropriate for the road or not. I for one dont see any sense with roads like airport road, hosur road having the limit of 60 for 2 wheelers when the big monsters out there wont even spare a thought to follow that limit and impose the threat of their presence on the puny rides (read 2 wheelers). Or are these limits to prevent the bloody morons who keep their brains (if they have any) in their pockets or back at their home and jump straight on to the road to cross without even giving slightest of trouble to their neck! I say let them be challaned (Just for the record this was once started in Delhi a year back I guess where pedestrians were challaned for jumping on the roads or crossing the roads at wrong time!). Regarding the time no comments coz i guess everyone knows the reality. More than time what comes along when you try doing so is a hell lot of hassles and harassment! Do you think calling 100 will solve the problem? Buddy everyone gets a share from every catch!!! Quote:

You overspeed if the speed limit has been mentioned on the stretch.
The only speed limit mentioned on the roads then was a board saying 80, with no specifics based on the number of wheels your vehicle ran on! So technically I did not overspeed. What irked me even more on that day was the attitude of the cops who refused to admit that there was no such signboard saying 'speed limit for 2-wheelers is 60'. I would have been more than willing to pay up, if they did not throw around their power, acted like people with some brains, & showed sense of public service. Hence this thread. ![]() No offence meant, but the rest of your post is common knowledge.
