well said pradeep. i agree its very frustrating when oldies on scooters and those autowallahs hog the right lane and won't budge for anything. I don't shout at them as a rule but i have lost my cool a couple of times and have really given them a piece of my mind

its not abt education and literacy...its abt attitude and rule awareness.

Default Unnecessary use of the HIGH BEAM

I have seen a lot of people(mostly INDICA drivers) who ride along with their high beam on all the time..even when it is least necessary(inside the city, in the busiest of streets)and i hate these people..! i hate them..!
they do not realize how difficult it becomes for bikers like us, coming from the opposite direction to see anything at all on the road..!
i mean ..are they really that dumb to realize that they are blinding us(which can lead to accidents) when they ride with the high beam on..!
it just bolis my blood to see anyone riding with high beam on inside the city..!

i am sure..many riders in here might have faced the same situation..!

I can give you the junction name. There More than a few times, I have been stopped and told to pay fine for the above mentioned reason. Upon asking why, I have been dubbed a north indian mindless hooligan and have been lectured about how law abiding Tamil people are compared to 'MY' kind. (no offence anybody from to Tamilnadu, It is just my experience.)

I honk once from a distance but he doesn't budge, so I squeeze between him and the divider. I get really pissed off with people who hog the right lane! Now, there is a red signal up ahead, so I come to a stop. The guy, with a pillion, on the scooter comes beside me and starts yelling at me, for overtaking him from the right side even though there was space on the left. I tell him that overtaking must be done from the right side, but he doesn't care!! He was totally uncivilized, using the choicest of swear words while talking to me. I was wearing a full face helmet with glasses (he was wearing those head-only protecting helmets). Seeing my attire, he started commenting on that too. He was on the verge of hitting me, but I guess I was saved by my helmet.

What the hell do we do with such people? Overtaking from the left is dangerous most of the times as I have experienced many times. You never know when something jumps into your lane from the right side. I really hate bangalore traffic for things like these.

The main problem is education. If people are educated properly from their childhood until atleast graduation, most of the problems will be solved. Huh, but which leader is willing to bring that change? None likely.

As for me, I'll just try to keep myself calm on the road, while avoiding the bullies.
Dude, People in India have a philosophy that since they have paid road tax (may have been paid during the 80s) they own the road and can do whatever they want. What happened to you is actually the tip of the ice berg. Go to small towns where people arrange stage shows on road, blocking traffic. It happens. No way around it, it is India where people dont care about rules they are brought up that way.
In your case the gentleman (and I use the term loosly) may know that he is supposed to keep to the left but might be wondering his left or your left.

Trucks, sumos, Scorpios, most bike riders, even Cops, People dont know that it is causing any problem. They have paid for the beam so they will use it.

You don't have to go to the small towns to see this. Here in Bangalore, they erect stages, conduct Ganesh pooja, political meetings, Wedding receptions etc by blocking the roads, putting up Shamiyaanas as if the roads are their private properties. This may go on for days together.

The worst thing I have noticed is that lots of the drivers and riders have no concern for the screaming Ambulances carrying critical patients and give way to them. How many lives were lost due to this irresponsible behaviour, I don't know

Happened with me when I was in college. 8:30ish in the morning on my way to Brigade road to attend college. On Assay Road a middle aged man on a scooter just wouldn't budge. There was just enough space between the median & the scooter for me to pass. I took the chance. However, since the road curves a bit to the right my crash guard (those butterfly ones on RX) hits the median, which puts me off balance and hits the scooter. Mother earth greets scooter fellow.

End of Story.

Moral of the story:- Middle aged people riding have to be classed along with Auto drivers & the like. Make your own way.

It is politically wrong to laugh at the scooter fellow, but i just couldn't help it.

But, I would have sustained serious injuries had I kissed the ground because I would have fallen right on the stone median Ofcourse, I was wearing a lid (I never ride w/o one) but right hand side of my body would have taken hopeless beating. By God's grace I managed to regain balance of the bike.
