@diffuser: I am sorry to hear about this but I would also say not to lose hope. Coincidentally (or not), a similar incident had occured with me outside Big Bazaar in Banashankari, Bangalore. I had left the bike (with my handle unlocked, foolish me) at the parking lot. When I came back, my bike was missing. I asked the security guard, he told me he hadn't seen anyone pushing a bike. After 3 hours of crazy searching and wierd questions to nearby shopkeepers, I found out the police had actually taken it to the police station. To my utter disgust, the Inspector at the station told me my fault was leaving the bike unlocked. He also said that "outsiders" like me keep losing their bikes, and then come to police for help even after knowing they had left the handle unlocked. It seems it was against the law to park your bike with handle unlocked. After a lot of coaxing, he let the bike go for 200/-.

We can't help it, sometimes these are necessary evils.
Thats sick! If everyone started paying them off like this, whats to stop them from coming and picking up bikes of all us bikers around here? The the police will be more dangerous than the thugs. You should have taken this up higher up the hierarchy or the anti corruption bureau, etc, etc. I have a friend whos bike was picked up like this while we went somewhere. He fought tooth and nail and did not pay a penny. There are ways to help things...

I dont mean to start a fight here, but what makes you think they are different. I had to park my car on a busy street (Tannery Road, for ppl who know the place) to buy some medicines. The only place available was inside the Police Quarters. So I parked it there. The chemist asked why did you park it there? They are big time thugs and they steal petrol He asked me to park it in front of his shop from next time on whenever I went there to buy medicines.

@diffuser: Sorry to hear about your bike. I sincerely hope you get it back soon. If you have any influence, however remote with the Police/Govt use it. Just keep your cool while interacting with these ***@#$@%@$ though.

Shocking, man!!

Which Big Bazaar outlet...Satya nagar or patia? You mentioned that you have parked under the no parking area. There might be a possibility that your bike has been towed away.

Do you have every other details of your bike. Chassis/Engine no etc. Run after those police stations and dont let them take the situation lightly.I hope you have lodged a FIR at Kharvel Nagar PS!!

Bike thefts are not rampant in BBSR and after hearing this i am beginning to fear the city is going the biggies way!!
