Default Hero Honda: "Your bike will start, even if its under 5 feet of water"

So this was the scene at my appt last nite. My friend had come over to study/hang out and incidently left his bike outside. Little did we know, a torrential downpour was soon unleashed upon Bangalore. Next the power goes out, we suddenly realize the bike (A HH Glamour) is outside and getting pounded. By this time, a flood of biblical proportions has engulfed the street and people are wading knee deep into the filthy water. If you'll remember the Glamour has a V-shaped engine and the whole damn thing is pretty much floating already. So with the help of the guys downstairs and the watchmen, my friend and i pull the bike out and get it into the appt complex.

Next we start it, no dice...we keep kicking it, no dice. We decide to drain all the water out of the silencer, then kick it...no go, but i can hear it trying to come to life. Next, we siphon gas out of my bike (1 Ltr) and put it in my friend's bike. Still nothing, but its trying to start. Finally we get it running by popping it into 1st gear and pushing it...thing started up! i was really impressed..i thought the engine was hosed for sure; very impressive engineering on Hero Honda/Honda's part. Anyone else care to share stories like this? I think my RTR would have made it as well, but the electrics may have been hosed .

You reminded me of the great Mumbai floods back in 05! My Zma engined was soaked in completely and the area which i live had water uptil the area from where the tank is located! But unfortunately unlike your case the Zma gave in after a few mins of wading through the deep waters just coz of the vertical engine.. Had to bring her home pushing hard through the crazily flowing waters and it was only after a couple of days that i got her running back, although the engine had to be overhauled n stuff..

After reading the title i thought Hero honda come up with a new technology of this kind

Same thing happened with my FZ last night. I din't use my bike from last 2 days. Since a lot of dust is on the bike, i put my bike outside in the rain (free water service you know). after 30 minutes when i tried to start the bike, it resisted to start. So, i left it like that and went for sleep. Again when i tried at 5 30 AM it started with a single try

PS: Don't know what i conveyed with my post,

I don't really get the point.

Was the title attributed to HHMIL or what ?

A. Its a catchy tagline for a thread title, and one that could be used for marketing

B. Im thoroughly impressed by the build quality; even though the bike overall may not be great, the engine is built like a tank!

Post My experience with Splendor..

I owned splendor for 3 years and there was nothing splendor in it. My bike read 24K on Odo. Once, Engine stalled at a signal. I am average built, overweight, regular gym going person . Tried starting the bike, and I guess gave my best power shot.
Guess what, nothing rotational happened although kick pedal crossed the complete path. Then I dragged the bike to side and tried kicking, but it felt like no pressure was catching inside. I pushed the bike in 2nd gear and left the clutch go bringing bike to live. Then I went straight to HH showroom. The service center guy told me that there exists a rod inside the engine attached to the kick with threads which rotates the shaft. This rod lost all the threads .
The guy opened the engine and replaced the rod in front of me. Bringing engine back to life.
I sold the bike shortly as I felt uncomfortable due to opening of engine. Just thought, I should have not kicked it like I used to start my Bullet std . This incidence never fails to bring an ear-to-ear grin on my face.

Not really impressed. I have seen several motorcycles/scooters firing back to life being submerged in water. By submerged I do not mean flooding till the tank, but good enough water to keep the engine under water.

The engine is sealed pretty well, if the carb is above water and if the cdi is dried, make sure there is no water entering the engine through the header and the bike should start in a few kicks whether it is Hero Honda or any other bike manufacturer.

What do you have to say about the thread that Prabhu(PrabhuBravo) had a few weeks back? They waded through more than waist deep water by sealing the silencer and every bike in the group kicked back to life.
