Default Stunt Performance at the Lyon Motorcycle Expo

The Lyon Motorcycle Expo, entitled Salon du 2 roues, took place on the 6, 7 and 8 March, 2009. During the expo, two days of stunting was hosted by the organisers and the participants of the stunt programme were world renowned Jean-Pierre GOY, Christophe de Duke Acrobatie and Kevin Carmichael. Valérie HONORE, a member of the earlier xBhp had the good fortune of being at the Expo and the stunt shows. She sent down the photographs to India for them to be shown in India. I will be showing the photographs of the Expo as well shortly. But in the meanwhile, I am posting some of the photographs of the stunt show by the professional stunters.

I begin my photo feature with the photographs of Jean-Pierre GOY, my favourite, and for those members who are not acquainted with this great man can have a look at the article by clicking below:
Interview with Jean Pierre Goy

The Master of ceremonies takes on a risk...

Missed by a whisker!!!

The Farewell:

Next we come to the slightly younger, Christophe de Duke Acrobatie, born on 21jan1973 at Caen, France who wears his trademark Red and Black suits on Red and Black bikes (He has landed a Contract with KTM) and he is currently considered N°1 in stunting in France by the Stunt governing body. He has also been 3rd in the World Stunt Championship in 2007
Favourite stunts: Wheelie going round and round, Hands-off wheelie, amongst others.

A Regal entry with a rolling turning stoppie:

And continuing with a different sideways posture:

Handle Bar

Then comes the third Entrant in this show: Kevin Carmichael, born 25 July 1967 at Kilmarnock GB, started biking at 7. Currently International figure Stunter, European Champion, World Champion.
Favourite stunt: Powerslide!

Daring a Lady fan and spectator: (Someone I know!)

Thank heavens!!

The traditional Goodbyes:

A big vote of thanks to Mme Valérie HONORE who made the effort of going to the Expo and twice to the Stunt performance and making this available to us.

All Photos: Courtesy Valérie HONORE
WARNING: All stunts performed by professionals. Not to be imitated by the uninitiated and always use safe riding gear.

Frankly, even I was a little confused but since the actual topic is about stunts, I guess it should go under 'The Stunter' section.

Nothing to take away from the actual stunts, but the crowd presence is amazing, and the way the whole crowd is maintained is really heartening. Also, it seems to be a real good, well co-ordinated Expo, whereby not only are there professional stunters performing with PROPER riding gears, but the venue also has a 'Snack Bar'! Tremendous!

Yes, I was also amazed at the crowd presence and from what I have heard, it is amazing to see crowd appreciation and willing participation as well which you can see from some reactions...

I have a yearning desire to see one such event up close. Yes, this is a yearly Expo which I am preparing to put up shortly as I have mentionned.

Thanks for another superb article Ken da. You just made my day
Here's hoping that our indigenous stunters reach such levels of professionalism soon !

Thanks for the appreciation.

There are talented people amongst indigenous stunters as well. But it is not something which is considered a "good" thing. These are cultural differences. If you check, you will see that there are governing bodies for Motorcycle stunters. Space is given to them for practising and developping this as an art form and innovating newer stunts! We are a FAR cry from that at this moment. Whatever our stunters do, they do it purely on personal efforts, with almost no or little help from others, and in hiding coz one might end up in jail! Coz our culture does not provide the space, metaphorical and real, to develop such forms.
