Default Hornet 600 or CB400 super...??

Given the current biking scenario in the country and the choices now on offer the Ninja 250R is the bike to go for. But what if somebody wishes to go in for a little higher upgrade like the CB400sb or sf or the Hornet 600(used), how to go about it? Any idea who are the few trusted dealers in Mumbai or Pune alike who can get prospective customers the CB400 through the proper channel OR find a used hornet 600 for a good price.

I know importing anything below 800 is not legal still help reqd!

Lol, in all these years that is someone I yet have to come across.
A below 800 cc bike can be brought into country legally only if someone has brought it down on Transfer of Residence. There is pretty much no other legal way of bringing down a below 800 cc two wheeler. Period.

An better, and more legal option for many could be getting their hands on a VFR 800 from the US. From the forums I hear that dealers in the US are letting go of these at 7000 USD if not less. Add 110% odd import duty to that amount, and another 1000 USD for C & F, OR maximum 1500 USD and you'l land yourself a brand new, all legal VFR 800 in the range of 7.5l excluding road tax, insurance and octroi tax.

The downside being, this would be almost 9L if not more by the time you hit the road, 2L more and you could be riding around on a CB1000 R, by simply writing off a cheque, availaing of bank loans, having dealer warranty (feels good even though they may of negligible support), and your consignment would not be risk in transit, mishandling, etc.

^^ interesting point there.. @OP - the reason it would still make sense buying a ninja 250R, because u have spares, service, warranty and complete peace of mind available in the 2.8 lakhs you pay for it... a lil compromise on performance.. really doesnt hurt then.

well the reason why I am not opting for a Ninja is simply that I want to experience an inline 4 and the cb400 fits the bill. Atleast time being. Lets see how this progresses..
