Default Formula SAE and 600cc superbike engines

I didnt know which topic to put this under so i request you to please place it as required.

Hi everyone
I am Vikram from pune.
I am a mechanical engineering student from MIT,Pune
We have a team "ACCELERACERS" that will be participating in the Formula SAE event to be held in chennai MMSC race track in the 1st week of July 2011.
The aim of the event is to built a prototype Formula1 style open cockpit car and race it on the track.
This is a national event and many teams from all over india will be participating.
There will be the Who's who of the Automotive world.
So i request all the members who can make it to please attend the event.
I will keep updating this thread as time progresses.

I am Highly doutbful that you will get SBk engines here in india! you can get engine of M800 or Diesel engine Of three wheeler's running on the streets!and sourcing parts compatible for SBk will be a real pain

Default Legal 600 CC

i do not think you will get a real 600 cc superbike legal engine i can suggest you to contact superbike mechanics in major cities may be they have some accidental bike with them and they can provide you the same including statup parts i have seen some scrap engines and accidental bikes at their places just P.M me your no i will forward you the details for delhi mechanics

Thanks for the suggestion guyz but we are only allowed petrol engines so DIESEL is out of question.
And about the idea of using a Maruti800 engine,
we thought of that but those engines are very heavy and dont produce enough power to compete with SBK engine.
Yeah even engines from scrapped or crashed bikes will do as long as they are in good running condition.

fsae, hmm....good they relaxed the compulsory M800 engine rule, well you should be able to find a f3 or f4 cbr600 engine, my college juniors did manage to find a chap who's sourcing a 600 engine for around 1.75L

and calling it fsae is not correct, supra is better and trust me it you will not find the who's who of the indian auto scene, it will be just Mahindra and JK tyre!! Dhabar and gang....
