Default How to handle people who want a small ride on your sbk?

Did not find any other appropriate place to post this question. Please move to the right forum if needed.

How would you say no to friends and relatives who want a test drive of ur sbk without offending them or impacting the relationship. Friends are still easier to refuse to but relatives ....
Am sure most of the owners would have gone thru this. I want to know how you guys dealt with it.

Welcome to xBhp Mani, pls consider posting an intro about yourself in the Who Are You section.

To discuss, this is way too simple; I avoid such people whom I think ask my SBK for a ride OR simply say no to people who ask SBK for test rides. For someone who's really serious about buying a SBK, I would probably say yes, but, again, it depends on how good rider they are. I use my common sense most importantly & will not give it to even our own members whose driving skills are not known to me.

Can try the following:

put lots of bandages on yourself, as if you have just survived a crash with multiple fractures. Click the photograph and mail it across to all of the people you suspect will be asking for the ride and tell them, - This was what happened to me when I borrowed a SBK from a friend.

If they are sensible enough, they wont be asking you again.

On a serious note, I think, it should entirely be your take how to say NO, for am sure, you would not be consulting an online forum to Take a Girl out, to go for a movie and things alike. Buddy, its your own battle, be a man and face it. After all, these things come with the package of Owning a SBK

all cheers

In fact friends and relatives (especially elder and younger brothers) are difficult to handle sometimes. But I believe that you can always say that the bike is new and can cause a lot of harm if ridden improperly. You can ask them to wait till you find out whether it is safe for them to ride.

If they own an SBK I let them ride it, if they are nubes then I just tell them that proper gear is required and with the bhp n torque of this bike it is very easy to kill your self and if lucky to be paralysed for life.

That usually does the trick.

Now that is very tricky situation when it happens though i don't own a superbike but i am very possessive about my bike and i am planning to get something big in near future .This question comes to my mind also that how to say "NO".In fact in past also i had bitter terms with my relatives by saying No to them but that happens for a short time and later everything comes to Normal and they themselves don't ask for a ride.

Well the the best i have thought so far is i'll put up a pic of the bike on my social networking account and write the Caption " Please don't ask for a ride , i don't want to hurt anybody " . It might work

I guess the age old excuse of "Hawa kam hain" doesnt work on SBKs..

But seriously when the bike is new, tell them its very nasty and uncontrolable and avoid.. offer a pillion ride and do a nice power wheelie.. they wont stick around asking for a ride again...
