Default Can i directly jump to 1000cc?

Hey guys,

I am planning to buy a 1000 cc bike in a year's time. I have a question for the current owners of 1000cc bike. How comfortable where they when they made the transition to 1000cc. Please share some views. Or should i jump on 650 prior to 998cc. Right now its a 220 and 100cc bike that i have and use. Thanks in advance.

Regards
Sid.

Topic Approved

Definitely a 600 first, the Hyosung GT650R would be a fantastic choice.

No litre class to begin with. You will have your entire life to buy one and enjoy one..
Ninja 250R -> Hyosung GT650R -> I4 600s -> litre bike.
That would be the ideal transition. Given the constraints you could buy the GT650R and then jump onto a litre. Sinnce you are gonna buy in an year you could also go for the Kawasaki 650R

Just a question...why should it be commuter->250R-650R-Litre class? Why not commuter-650R-Litre class?

first of all i don't own a superbike. but i think it should not be the problem for you or anyone unless you are not a responsible rider. skills develop by time if you have funds go for a litre class superbike.

i owned karizma at age of 15 and developed skills according to it and now i own R15 and easily blended with it.
so according to me go for it...else superbike experts will guide you well.

RIDE SAFE

yes... you can move from a 220 to a 1000cc...

u'd have to be cautious with how you ride it tho...
ask yourself... how many times have u fallen / crashed / had a close call?

you'll need to practice a decent amount of restraint.

since the GT650 has been suggested already...
personally... i'd suggest a CBR400RR...
it is a much more "cost effective" in-between bike.

i'm not comparing the 400RR with the GT650R...
dunno if you'd want to spend 5.5 lac of your 12 lac budget on a GT650R...
hence the alternative.

u can buy a decent 400RR for about 1.5 - 2 lac...
and within a year u can prolly sell it for about the same price.

I just did that! About a month and a half back. I had FZ-16 for 2 years. Picked up MT-01. Couple of long rides. Few times to office (within Bangalore). Haven't had any issues so far. I am not a hard core biker. You got to be taller than 170cm if you go far bikes like MT-01. I am just about there and weigh 65 KG . That was one of the biggest concern I had before I jumped to 1000cc . Know your limits. Ride safe. Take it easy first few days . You should not have problems

Keep a tab on on your right wrist & fingers.

Take it easy always with the kind of explosive power delivery they come equipped with.(on our road with even cattle & their dung struggling for space & jostling to brake traction) Hard to brake when you are accelerating like a mad man.

Wouldn't advise if you are below 25 though. I know how I was riding few years back. You tend to grown wise as the hair turns grey. (Yes, i remember Haroon's sign)

RIDE SAFE
Now, being a promoter of Safe and sane riding, this is highly inappropriate and Illegal. And you are flaunting it as it's an achievment. Not done dude.

And the kind of of power our Bikes make(Karizma and R15 included) are no way in their tiniest form can match the performence and the power of the mighty SBK's.

Hence, it would be good to develop the skills on a 600 and then move to a liter class. this will give the rider ample time and practice to get used to the extra power in hand.

All above does not mean that a person cannot and should not move directly to a liter class. I've known few people who directly moved to 1000CC from 150 and 225 CC. But they had loads of experience to back the move.
