Sir basically if you are picking up TR register Bike....Then the bike will be on his name(Person who has imported and previously owned and registered on his name out of India atleast for 2+year)
1>frist if you want you get register on your name.
2. If you dont want to register on your name then you can get a high court paper sighed by owner that your using this bike not owned with all your details.
regards
Aman

@aman, thank you very much Sir, and you kept your word by starting these thread. Being a dealer of superbikes based in mumbai, not only will you gain credibility through xbhp, you will also be a best resource to advice on bike dealing.

The point about getting a court paper signed is a very good point. I didn't know that. Let's see what other members have to post/add/request.

Cheers.

Some sellers of superbikes claim that they don't have a bill of landing or DRI letter but the bike is registered, the engine and chassis numbers match what is there on the RC book, and NOC is available. Does this mean that the superbike is registered as an Indian model bike? (For example R1 registered as a RX-135, it has happened before!)

it means it is a bike from the grey market... and the person got it registered by paying some officials in the RTO....

@Kinshuk, is it a problem to buy such a bike? Will I be able to easily procure a NOC for it if I want to transfer it to a different state?

you might face a problem when DRI is on the lookout for such bikes....
in that case you will have to a penalty or a fine which may be as high as 150-200% of the value of the bike....

to get the NOC it depends on well your contacts are...
