Default Need help : Hayabusa

Hi,

I am planning to buy a pre-owned Hayabusa. Details of the bike are:-
year of import - 2005, all duties paid.
color - white
condition - good, no scratches & firing seems to be ok.
asking price - 6.6L
registration - MH 43, navi mumbai-I suppose.
place - Pune.

Please advice me on this deal. I can't verify the engine condition of the bike since I have never owned such a huge one before. I rode it for few hunder meters & it seems ok to me - the initial firing sounds good.

Would it be worth to go for it at 6.6L?

Thanks & Regards,

Also check how many kms the bike has done and once again check whether all the duties are paid (make sure that there are no fake papers etc) and than only proceed..Experts and Seniors will surely guide you....Best of Luck...

while the year of import might be 2005... find out the year the bike was manufactured.

in all probability... the bike was prolly brought down under transfer of residence...

so it's quite likely that the bike could be older than a 2005 model.

what are the documents the owner says he has?

the RC book should have all "relevant" info... and the info on the bike and RC book should correspond.

check the engine number & / chassis number match the details on the RC book...
cubic capacity... paint colour... manufacturer name...

also... the bill of landing (lading) number... bill of entry... import doc numbers...
AND the passport info of the importer.

ask for the ORIGINALS of all these documents.

is the bike registered on the sellers name?

ask he owner for a proper test ride. a few hundred meters isn't enough.

ride it thru traffic for atleast 30 minutes... and try an 8-10 km open stretch too.

that's a good price-tag for an allegedly "clean" Busa.

tread carefully... and don't take any chances if you want a completely legal bike.

Default Thanks

Thanks a lot for the guidance.
The bike is imported in 2004 as an used bike.
And the owner is not ready to negotiate any amount.
So, for the time being I have rejected the deal.

Any idea how much a 2001-unrestricted model- busa will cost?
I have got one from mumbai, 2001 manfcrd, 2004 import.

The secong owner bought it for around 6.5L in 2009.

One more thing, is it worth to buy such old superbikes? I mean 8-10 years old bike, would it be worth riding those? will they deliver the same power & thrill as a new(or may be 1-2 years old) one?

Thanks & Regards,
lui
