Default Comet'd Again!!!!!

3 months ~ 80 days of wait.... being without a bike is like being handicapped to some extent and i felt lonely.. for the last 3 years i have been riding bikes that really gave me the satisfaction of being called a biker. I am not someone who has been for too many rides or acheived great fete's but yes.. to some extent the biker element in me did come out... to be with out this so called element surely feels different.. Counting each day since i gave my bike to be revamped was definetly not the best.. every week, calling up the mech to check on the progress was even more frustrating when the paint work was delayed by a month... adds more but as the saying goes.. “Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting. That is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow - that is patience.” and so .. the day arrived when i finally got the call that my bike is ready...

To go back to the past on how it all started....

When i was in my 12th, my dad promised that if i get a seat in one of the good engg colleges, he would actually get me a bike.... well so i slogged my a** out and finally got through to BMSCE with a free seat in Mechanical Engg and wola.. i was waiting for my first Motocycle - HH CBZ which back in 2000 was considered one of the best... unfortunately.. my elder brother (@#%^&*) messed it up by telling my dad to give a more quieter one like the Splendor if he wanted to see his son alive

well life moved on ... seeing my friends get better bikes, powerful ones, it was a dream to land my hands on a good bike and 7 years later, there it was the Yamaha R15 launched and my eyes were all set to get my first motorcycle (of course the Splendour sponsored by my Dad so never considered it as mine). When i enquired with the showroom, the price tag was 1.15 lakhs.... and i couldnt wait for 2 months so asked if i pay the full cash, will i get it sooner and i was promised 15 days time. Paid the full amount up front (my entire savings) and was waiting patiently for my baby R1... with a smile on my face and a frown on my parents .. i got the black baby on Sep 2007....it was a great 2 years with the bike until i got my eyes on my all time favourite.. the Comet GT250.... Comet was the bike i always wanted but when i enquired prior to getting my R15, i couldnt get my hands on any Comet in Bangalore. With the Ninja's and the Honda's coming up with their 250's i always set my eyes on a V-Twin and of course with not many on the road, i felt it was different to have one of these. For some reason, i always fancied the beast as i may call it.. the sturdy looks, the boldness it carries definetly is a class apart....

I never belived in dreams coming true but sometimes i am proved wrong (not sure why).. when i had no hopes of owning a Comet, there comes the one person who decided to gve me a chance to ride his Comet knowing my love for the bike...

Santa aka Santoosh (no introduction needed as to who this person is) pings me and asks me if i am really interested in the Comet. I told him i love it and would like to own one if any offer is given. he told me to meet him up and he will let me ride his beast. There, finally a dream to ride a motorcycle i always fancied... It was beautiful and powerful and sturdy.. i asked him if he was willing to sell and he was not sure since he loved it as well.. he told me he will keep me posted... time went by and i had no hopes of Santa giving me his Comet, when i got his call. The question "are you still interseted in the Comet" and i was liek "oh hell ya". The deal was made.. Santa gave up the beast... Knowing my love for the bike and the way i have maintained my bikes, he trusted that i will take good care of it.

Finally, December, 2010 i got my hands on the Comet GT 250.... It was painted metalling midnight blue with a powerful exhaust ... neatly kept and maintained by Santa.. my first ride was to Mangalore with my spouse and she definitely enjoyed every bit of it.. the bike indeed was so comfortable that i coudlnt feel anything but the smoothness of the ride all through. But that was my only ride with the beast since i was travelling more often.... its been 6 months now and i thought i need to give a bike a little facelift. the paint already on the bike had scrathes due to usage and i thought it was time to give it a new look.. so i was down thinking which color it will suit... what will make it look more alive that it is... then i decied, it is always good to keep it as original as possible so i deicded.. The Red.. the original color of the bike.. i thought to restore it to how it was when it just came out of a showroom.... Since i am not a fan of modifications, i am restoring the bike to how original it was. Since Santa has done a lot of work to restore it .. my work becomes less... so .. here are the things being done.. Parts to be painted Red.. black Frame... engine to maintain its original color.. Zinc all the nuts and bolts.. wiring work to be done since there were issues with the rectifier... all in all... the bike to be as good as new....

It was a great experience riding the R15.. to be honest one of its kind .. i am happy i could give my bike to Apex racing and the bike was tested by Sameer aka Killer xBHP and felt it was in great shape.....

Now... i am a happy rider/ biker... the bike is awesome in all ways possible... I need to give a special thanks to Sumit and Sunil who indicated in their posts that Irshad bhai was the mechanic for the job.. he may be on the expensive side but he did manage to restore the bike the way i wanted... Also, i must say that i feel bad that the color that was chosen by Irshad bhai was the same as on Sumit's bike .. please don hate me for this.. :-)

The excitement i had for the last 3 months was like waiting for a new bike to be delivered.. there has been days when i feel that i am not myself with out the bike but finally.. it has arrived.. and looking as good as ever to join the club of Cometer's.....

Finally the pics... The bike was revamped overall so the major changes as one can see was the paint work. back to Red with Black chassis. The engine maintains it stock color. Wiring completely redone... new indicators... softened the Exhaust note... and lot of other goodies...

I was in the 2003 batch. Did Mechanical too. KRK took our case in the final project. I'd taken your A* Bionics from you, even then I didn't know you were also from BMS.

Right now I'm living a hard life in Kolkata. Hopefully will be done by 2013.

BTW congrats for the bike
