If anyone knows about these bikes, please inform me. I don't think dealers or brokers would be interested in dealing with such machines. Last edited by Siddharth Jodh; 10-28-2011 at 04:02 AM. Reason: Slightly OT |

Just for my information, AFAIK there would be very few 996 or 998s in India, right? Never heard of one till now. So the 999 really looks like the best bet, plus it won't be as old as the other two. You know any 999 (R preferably) in India? |

this is another problem which a dealer needs to face. please don't take it otherwise guys - but when a person approaches them to ask for a bike's price when he plans to buy one after 2-3 years - the dealer is bound to get slightly irritated.
the bikes market (especially the grey import ones) fluctuates like crazy. you never will get to know what should be the actual price of the bike after 2-3 years. if the demand is high and supply is low - the price would be big. if the demand is low and supply is high (like when it happened when dri started hunting these bikes) then you might get a 600 for as low as a 250. you just never know. as far as a ducati 996, 998, 999, 999r is concerned - just simply forget about it. as far as i know - there is no 996 or 998 which is still there in india. you might chance upon a 999 (knew a couple of them) but i suggest you keep dreaming about a 999r ![]() though i have seen 748 once (younger sibling of the 998) and know of atleast 2 749 (one yellow and one grey) that are there in india. a 1098r from a legal dealership was retailed at something like 56 lacs exshowroom. the prices were drastically cut down to 48 lacs. if my memory serves me right, there were 2 of these vehicles picked up in india. out of which one might still be seen at the ducati showroom in atria. this particular bike is looking for a new home - the price though great - is still ridiculously expensive!! in 2010 - they were asking 27 lacs for a bike which had not even completed one year. great price - but unaffordable for most of us here. @justy did u contact the guy i had messaged you the number? |

I know that it would be almost impossible to find the 996 or 998 in India. But my primary target is the 999, which I plan to buy in a couple of years, since I am planning to buy a new Monster sometime soon (and will thus be bankrupt for some days to come). Let's just say the 999 appeals to me aesthetically. I know of a red 999 in Delhi, a yellow one in Mumbai (with reg. no. 999) and a 749 in Bangalore and another one in Chandigarh or Delhi (749 Dark , that's what it is called). Actually finding one of this rarity (remember the 999 was a commercial failure, not just rare) and in good condition is quite easy (not very) in the US or UK, but importing those would be a bitch.....
