Hey buddy, I'm thinking of going for a pre-owned Comet, as it's the only one out there to fill me with adrenalin without leaving me broke. Can you suggest of anything I should know of, like maintainance issues, special requirements like high-octane fuel, special engine oil, availability of spares, etc, before buying the bike? I live in a small town, hence better I should know this stuff before going for the purchase.

@diffuser911: I will not advise you going in for a Comet, primarily because bbsr has no competent mechanics to service it AFAIK, plus getting spares is gonna be a bone breaking job for you.
If you can find a Comet owner in Bbsr/Cuttack, it would definitely help you gain insight about ownership experience! Till date I have never seen a Comet/Aquilla in all my time in Bbsr/Cuttack

Thanks praful, but at the same time, people here own a couple of SBKs, like R1 and Busa. Maintainance will be a pain, but a performance bike within reach is awesome. BTW, Sudip (archi's cousin) said that a RD350 group is there, which gets mechanic from Bangalore once every 6 months, with all the spares required and he does the job. Looking that way, even the RD seems a reality here. Maybe I'm too optimistic, but a 2 lakh Ninja will be a toll on me for a couple of years.

I have spoken to a RD owner in Bbsr and you wanna know how I met him, I caught up with him on my Dio when he was ripping his bike!
Thats the state in which they are, exotic bike needs good maintenance and once a month checkups, etc will be a real pain in the backside. Unless you intend on keeping one of these bike's as a weekend only bike and not as a replacement for your daily use bike! Btw, the R1's, Ninja's owners hardly keep their bike longterm. The only guy who actually kept a sbk for a really long time was this guy who has/had a really old CBR 400 or something like that. And that too was in a pathetic state!!!

Any R1/Busa/SBK mechanic can easily do the servicing for the comet.
And regarding the spare parts, if he can source R1 and Busa's spares then he can easily source the Comets parts. high octane - Again no issues a normal petrol is good enough. Engine oil - I recently changed to Synthetic oil(factory) and its doing magics Regarding the possession of a comet for a long term, you can again do it without much issues. |

Ummm, there...you made it tough for me to decide. I was planning a 3/4 day breakup between my CBZ and any other road-ripper. Weekend biking won't be an option, as many posers out there need a lesson
. But I am seriously considering this time to get a bigger machine, as CBZ is falling short of expectations, and P220 and ZMA don't impress me much.
