Was browsing collecting some drool-maal (wallpapers for screensaver) on the Duati Site (http://www.ducati.com/) when I hit upon several lovely images of the Ducati 'L'-twin engines. I was left with some mouth watering images and thought will share some of them with you guys!
These engines are an adaptation of the commonly known 'V'-twins because one cylinder lies horizonatally flat (like the Hero Honda CD-100/Splendor engine) while the other is vertical. The 'V' angle being obtuse the vertical cylinder is tilted backwards. Some of the legendary Desmo and Testastretta engines. So here are some sample images. Do visit the links below form some greater images with text to accompany it. Check out the multi-Valve and Dual Spark heads! ![]() In profile ![]() Liquid Cooled ![]() Air Cooled ![]() DOHC (Dual Over-Head Camshaft) Mechanism ![]() Heavy Breathing 3 Valve Head ![]() 3-D CAD rendering. ![]() Camshaft Drive Belt! This link takes you to the latest engines, with description: http://www.ducati.com/docs_eng/photo...me=enginesMY03 Some more legendary engines with description: http://www.ducati.com/docs_eng/photo...ml?pgName=0091

Thanks Rajnish,
Had posted this a week back in a "moderated" forum and it lay there waiting to be approved . Luckily it was moved to a correct forum today! And don't just look at these pics. Do check out the links, they are amazing! The paper drawings to almost all components. I don't understand why does Ducati only reserve its 'V'-4 Desmosedici engines only for its Race bikes and not the Street ones. The street ones are treated only to the L-twins! And by Desmosedici I mean this:

actually for street applications their desmo twins work well, reliable, light and torquey.and work well in a light frame.
