Hi All:
I'm a new member, I wanted to share my experience (nightmare) buying a superbike from Honda. 1) Honda does not have a showroom or willing to showcase its Superbikes anywhere in South India, neither do they allow a test drive the later I understand as it is difficult to manage. After talking to Honda since April I flew down to Mumbai to look at a bike and finally decided to order a Honda CB1000R after Honda after much delay was able to register CB1000R in Chennai (4 bikes that came down before mine, had to wait for a month to be registered all at the customers time, imagine the frustration of the customer can see it but can't ride it). 2) All superbike customers are directly handleded by Honda as these are important customers and a dealer might not handle properly, neither does the dealer get any fee for selling the bike I think it is just goodwill apart from a few thousands to cover costs 2) Sep 8th I order the bike with Didar Honda Chennai I was promised 10-15 days max, 10 days being the norm as it is driven from Delhi in a Tat 407 directly so no delays. I paid 9.85L for the bike and was told approx 92K more to get it on the road (insurance, tax, registration etc) 3) 10 days passed by and I tried reaching Honda Sales as the bike was not delivered neither did they have a date of arrival, no reply to my calls, emails/SMS from Honda Sales 4) Finally 16 days after I ordered the bike it was delivered, PDI guy was not available so someone from area sales checked, I took the bike as I did not want to leave it at the showroom. I was told PDI has been done in Delhi 5) 4 days later engineer comes down, checks everything, makes a note of key #, battery # etc adjust throttle play and leaves. 6) A week later I'm still waiting for the bike to be registered as paper work is getting delayed, the problem is the dealer does not care as he did not sell you the vehicle, Honda Sales got their money so they don't care. 7) Hopefully registration will get done 6th nearly a month after I paid the money This was not what I expected when I set out to buy a Superbike, what we pay is close to a price of Ducati in the US and you get treated like crap by Honda very disappointing. So if any of you are planning to buy a bike from Honda be extra careful and make sure you set your expectation very low, probably you will come away less disappointed. BTW, here is the bike, has less than 30kms but enjoyed every one of those kms Cheers Srinath |

Topic Approved.
Congratulations for getting the naked hooligan - the CB 1000R. It is not everyday that we get to see people choosing a naked bike over fully faired, full blown SBKs. As for Honda, it is unfortunate to see Honda treating their superbike customers with such a laid-back attitude. I hope the situation does improve for you, eventually. A big congrats once again for the 1000R, and I hope you will ride safe, and ofcourse post more pictures of the same.

Hi Srinath,
Congrats on your Naked Machine, This is completely not acceptable from HONDA, they are actually know for the best customer service, its reversed in your case Superbike Customer should be treated as GOD Ensure you get proper service backup by the dealer or HONDA direct |

Congrats man. Good to see a CB1000R thread on xBhp finally!
As for Honda, this sort of treatment is just unpardonable. If at all Honda is reading this thread, regardless of the position / function the Honda official(s) reading this is in, he/she needs to get this resolved ASAP! A customer cannot be expected to do things like registration etc on his own.. I hope at least the insurance has been done! Very sad state of affairs. Honda seems to be going the Yamaha way when it comes to their "premium" customers. I had so much of hopes on them. |
