Lightbulb My FALKEN : '05 Hyosung Comet GT250 - Issues sorted n Pix

Hi guys....

^RECENT UPDATES IN PAGE 4^

Had a few heart strokes after buying '05 Hyosung Comet GT250 aka "The Falken" (thats how i cal it ) fearing of major issues due to the stupid maintenance by the previous owner... but fortunately all the issues were very minor n the engine is in excellent condition. I am happy that I am bringing it back to life...

Will let you know first about the issue I faced and how I got it sorted out followed by the pix after some feel good makeovers...

(#) PETROL LEAK FROM CARBURETTORS...

Its exactly the same thing shown in the video but mine was from the front carburettor... was initially horrified by seeing it. All the fuel started dripping all over the bike drop by drop. The starter motor started clicking n gets heated up leaving the battery terminal wires fried... With no good mech in town had no choice but to train one of them... hehe so found a rd350 mech in town gave him a printed copy of the service manual (200 odd pages ) made him read all the stuff in it about the bike . To my luck, he was a very quick learner and became an expert of the bike in no time... The fuel flowed all the way into the engine n got mixed with the engine oil... so when ever i started the bike, engine oil mixed with the fuel was thrown out of the breather pipe beneath the body due to excess content. Engine got heated up like hell, smoke started coming out of the exhaust. Mech saw the issue, removed the tank, the fuel wasnt stopping from the tank even after removing the suction pipe. I was again , he got hold of the issue n gave a smile , i was like WTF... He reversed the tank, removed the petcock n showed me a spring which holds the diaphragm to resist petrol from flowing when the ignition is off. It lost the strength to hold the pressure n was replaced with a spring from our very old kinetic honda after some mods. With this.., all the issues have sorted out n "KAZZAAM...." the bike is back to life: No Smoke, No Horrible heat, No Fuel leaks, No Mind blogging sounds and instant start at any time.... All this due to a tiny stupid "SPRING"... Here is the culprit...

(#) Due to this issue the battery has gone kaput... so got a new battery EXIDE BACKER - 12v 14aH (12MF14-3A) for 1200 bucks. This is a direct fit for comets without any size or electrical issues. Here is the old one...

(#) Got the engine Oil changed to Castrol GTX 20w50 multigrade oil for 221 bucks a litre (had to get 2 bottles as comets need 1.5L). The bike is damn smooth now.

(#) Got the tank rubbers changed, the tank rubbers of suzuki bikes are direct fit to the comet without any mods.

(#) Got the oil filter changed, a fiero's oil filter is a direct fit into comets without any mods.

(#) Received the rear disc brake pads from planetdsg.com for 1300 bucks (which includes shipping charges) in time n got them replaced.

(#) Got the muffler tip n the surface beneath the petrol tank sprayed with red oxide paint to avoid rust as there were traces.

(#) Got the Fuel hoses changed with bajaj pulsar's stuff.

(#) Finally, got the spark plugs n KN air filter cleaned and also gave a FaceLift to the bike with new Number Plates (my own simple but elegant design.., so patented... ) n got the stupid KINETIC stickers removed... no offense to the company but really felt the same because of its "wonderful" after sales service n support... anyway its Mahindra's headache now.., so no issues..

Well.., here is my baby having a reborn life like a Phoenix....

P.S~ kindly bear with the quality of the pics, as my NV15 was out of charge, had to click them with my iPhone. so.., No n only .

I like happy endings.... There is nothing bigger than the joy of knowing that your bike is all right now and there is no hidden problem anymore.

Enjoy your ride.....

Congrats mate! She's a beauty. Btw are the rear tyres going bald? I can't make that out properly from the pics though.
