Hello guys its been a while since ive logged on to xbhp... i have just got a kb100 1990 model in non working condition and opened her up today
because the kick had some sort of a problem..turned out it was the kick ratchet..am thinking now since she is opened up i might as well restore her

i need to install a new parts
    as of now i need..

    1.clutch housing.
    2.clutch plates pressure plates.
    3.piston/rings with boring.
    4.crank/crank bearings.

A.does anyone know the costs? specially of the clutch housing and plates..and crank and crank bearings?

B.i also need to know about a thin moon shaped rotation plate connected to the crank shaft it seems to be some sort of a compression holder..

C.ive never ridden a kb before.. how is it to ride? power wise? i wish to play around with the jetting and get an expansion chamber..how does the engne respond to a shaven

head will the bump in compression ratio give a significant gain in power??

i know its a ton of things in one post..any information would be welcome, the place where i live i have not seen a kb here in month's..am dying to hear how my bike sounds

Clutch plates will cost you around 250-400 bucks. But they could be higher now. The last I changed was some 4 years ago. No idea on other items.

B.i also need to know about a thin moon shaped rotation plate connected to the crank shaft it seems to be some sort of a compression holder..

I think you are referring to the rotary valve. It is one of the most important component for a KB engine and it is what makes a KB ride the way it rides! Extremely hard to source. Perhaps go to a salvage yard, find a dying KB and scour for parts?

C.ive never ridden a kb before.. how is it to ride? power wise? i wish to play around with the jetting and get an expansion chamber..how does the engne respond to a shaven

The bike has decent low end torque and will pull cleanly from 15-20kmph in fourth gear provided the compression is fine. The real power of KB starts after 5000rpm. Trust me it can give some serious competition to a stock RX100 when it comes to acceleration. I remember making Pulsar 150s cry. The bike is very stable even at higher speeds. That said you will feel the lightness of the bike when encountered by heavy winds but the long wheelbase helps the bike be planted. Braking is good too but I would be a careful rider since for the day and age, braking needs have become more strong. I sincerely advice you not to play with anything and keep the bike stock! Trust me finding spares is an ordeal. If your bike runs fine, you should be happy. You cannot expect KB to be your everyday ride now like an RX. RX still has spares here and there but for the KB the scenario is very different. KB is a classic bike now. Just revert her to her stock condition and keep that oil level right. She will keep going on and on. KB could be used for your weekend ride.

i know its a ton of things in one post..any information would be welcome, the place where i live i have not seen a kb here in month's..am dying to hear how my bike sounds

@srinikasyap : can you please confirm whether the micarb you bought for the kb had the hole (circled in red) on the side of the carb

Great looking bike. I have the same wine red colour 1990 RTZ delta. Done some thing like 45000 odd kms. Now languishing in Varanasi. Tried a rebuild but the carb issue got me stumped. Got a new one from Delhi last year but it just does'nt seem to work. The mechanic who has been working on it is the guy who was there with the Bajaj service centre in 1990 when i purchased the bike who subsequently set up his own shop. But with barely any RTZ in sight in Delhi or Varanasi spares are non existent. Still looking for the tacho cable. Also have been searching for the original Stanley 12V 35/35w bulb since the last decade or so. Can anyone help me out?

As far as i can remember the KB headlight were market leading at its time and in one of the reviews in 1986 or 1987 in Indian Auto Journal the rider had posted that you can see a truck before it can see you. It out performs anything on two wheels and puts a lot of 4 wheelers to shame.

Hey guys,I'm new to xbhp. I read this whole thread. Good to see these many KB lovers.I'm too one of it.I have a 1991 wine red KBajaj KB 100 RTZ Delta Super Tuned bike.I need some help restoring it.
    The story of my bike:

My dad completed his college and got a job.The company owner wanted my dad to buy himself a bike as he in the marketing section. The company owner had a KB 100(He had a cheetah engine.....not mine which is a delta). He suggested my dad to buy a KB.But,my dad wanted to buy an RX. My dad approached his dad. My grandpa suggested him to buy a CD 100 as it give a wonderful mileage("Fill it,Shut it,Forget it" as it came in the ad).My dad refused as the CD goes as fast as my grandma....LOL...At last they came to a conclusion to buy a KB as it gave more power at good mileage. But my dad's vision changed after buying this bike. After his first ride in this bike, he fell in love with it.The year was 1991 when all this happened. He then got married and his ride trips to Ooty with my mom at high speed in the hills even scared my mom. But, even he rides so fast, he is confident driver. You can trust him when you are his pillion. He would nearly sleep on the ground when he is turning in the hair pin bends. In 1997, my brother was born and became the rider of KB at that small age by sitting on the fuel tank and my dad on the riding seat.

Then came me in 2000.I rode my first vehicle Kinetic Honda when i was in 3rd grade with my dad as pillion.I rode it alone in 5th grade.(I still remember me falling down in the first ride when i went alone). My dad taught me drive a car when i was in 7th grade.I practised in my dad's Ford Fiesta.I rode my first bike during 7th grade summer holidays. It was a TVS Apache RTR 180.This was in 2012. But, we gave the KB to my dad's uncle in 2009,I believe(Maybe 2010 or 2008).

Then years went by and completed my 10th public exam with 493/500 and as a reward, my dad bought me a second hand Yamaha FZ-16 V-fi matte black.I went for drive-bys, speed-tests etc and i rusted the contraption like anything. Now for the past the past three months, I was in talks with my dad about the KB we owned and promised he'll be getting me the bike in a week or a couple...I can't forget that bike.It has been in use from 1991 to 2007 by my dad and after that for around 2 years it stood idle. Then my dad's uncle took it, did some work it ran for around 4-5 years. Then it stood idle for around a year under the sun after the clutch phase in it was blown and he didn't get any spare. The paint has ripped off.I don't yet know the condition of the bike.I think it has a lot of work to do and i know i must get my hands dirty. I need your support in rebuilding it.I'm lucky that i'm in coimbatore and can get spares from aditya automobiles.

    Thanks in advance.....

Will be posting the pics of my bike as soon as i get it.
