Guys Picked up a Ind-Suzuki AX-100 today, its a 86 model, bikes in running okay condition, only a problem with the float pin. So we put a old scooty float pin, that was the nearest match. Now my only query is can i put a max 100 float pin on the AX 100 carb??
And yes lets use this thread as the AX 100 ownership thread, an amazing jap bike that still holds strong

Parts from the shogun carb should fit straight, coz they both have the same mikuni vm20. But the jets, slide needle, throttle slide, are all different.
Please post some pics of the bike. I will post mine in a short while. |

if im not mistaken the AX 100/ max 100/ samurai all came with VM 18 carbs, only difference taht the AX 100's were made in Japan. So my mech had a scooty float pin, the old model. So went around asking in many shops today they all told me that the old model scooty and AX 100 have the same float pin. The max 100 allthough the same model carb has a different type float pin. The only problem being, after my new second hand running some 6 kms stopped, i found the carb leaking, even though the cock was off later on. So i need to get the entire float and float pin checked as well as put it on a vernier calliper and measure its height. Jus hope she runs after this. BOTTOMLINE> If you want a float pin for your Ind-Suzuki AX 100, the old scooty's float pin assembly is the same. Go for taht. Costs 80 bucks

So your's got a VM 18? I remember the later versions came with VM 18. Mine is a 1985 january registered bike. One of the first lot. It has a japanese Mikuni VM20, not 18. If it is 18, then max, samurai's parts will fit.
I have fuel leaking problems due to rust and dirt in the fuel. Solved it by putting an external fuel filter. A VM20 must still be available somewhere. It was quoted abour 3.xxk at Coimbatore some time ago. It is a direct fit on the manifold, but you have to find a suitable air box, or the air box rubber outlet. I learned riding a geared motorcycle on it, and still ride it. It is a real sweetie to ride. What about the condition of the bike mate? Original cyl or samurai's. What oversize etc... Mine is running original bore, second oversize. Recently reset the crank, changed oil seals and gaskets. Now it runs much smoother. |

ENGINE seems fine, works like butter, but it sputters (could it be throttle cable prob???) the engine nad body are bone stock barring a filthy shoody shity paint job from its original blue to a crappy cheap blue. The bike is runnning on its orignal block piston et all crank etc. Thats what the pwner claims atleast, he claims 2 lac ridden without opening the engine, the bike being nearly 24 years old has its silencer without any rust, and my shaolin coming up on its 11th year has a rusted bend pipe, thats quality for you. The carb seems to be giving alot of trouble should get it sorted as soon as possible. but my work keeps me away from it How you post up some pics n a spec sheet bro if u have em?

Picasa Web Albums - irkeerthy - My bikes#
Please take a look in the link. I have also posted a pic of the pamplet that is as old as the bike. You are right. The maxs and samurais use 18mm carbs. For the first few years, the ax 100 came with a 20mm carb. The later ones were having 18s. My friend had a 86 or 87 model which had 18mm carb. The bikes with 20mms rev a lot easier. Feels nicer than the 18mm carbed ones. The jet sizes, throttle slide, an almost all parts are different for the ax compared to a shogun. But the float, float needle should be the same. The stock jetting on my ax is #15 pilot, round head #90 main jet. My bike has run over 4 lakh kilometers without the head being opened. Then it came to my hands, and all sorts of bad things happen.
