My world changed from smoke & 2T to ECM & 4 joke!!

Update
I spoke to Mr.Rao few minutes back. He confirmed that I need to leave the bike to Yamaha Authorized Service Station (YASS) for restoration. He said that the parts will not be available over the service counter & hence need to take the bike to YASS, check the bike thoroughly with the mech for all the required parts, note down the list & send an email to customercare@yamaha-motor.com asking for the availability of the parts. Upon confirmation of all the parts, the bike to be sent to YASS & opens a job card. Yamaha Motor then sends the parts for the specified job & thus the parts are available as fitted in vehicle rather than over the counter. As of now I don't have any issues since I'm planning to restore the bike to stock; not sure if there's any hitch here. |

You are most welcome man. Quoting my name won't help anywhere LoL! I got that fellow's number from Yamaha's customer care. You can also say that if at all he asks. Dealers themselves don't have a good opnion about him (they call him insane). I gave his number so that pressure could build up on him/Yamaha day by day. If you have good A.S.C then there is no harm in adopting Mr. Rao's method, else it is going to be lot of tension and frustration. If you know an independent workshop/mechanic who enjoys your 100% confidence, then it is better to source the kit independently. All the best ![]() EDIT: If you are sourcing it independently be prepared to pay some premium over M.R.P which is Rs. 5995.

Hitch No.2-> There is going to be significant time outlay in procuring the parts. Hitch No.3-> Whom will you contact in Yamaha (read along with Hitch No.1)? There is no escalation mechanism available. One fellow in the Yamaha office told me there are Japnese above Mr.Rao. Don't know how far it is true. Hitch No.3-> You will be at the mercy of A.S.C which means you might end up paying too much and worse still obtain poor workmanship. I take back my words. I wouldn't suggest you to take this route. Procure the parts independently and then get it done from a good technician.

I hope they keep their word
![]() If you really try hard it is possible to find spares in A.S.C itself. Which A.S.C you approach is the million dolar question A.S.Cs in Metros & big cities will not have stocks![]() Now that they say April onwards I think it is better to wait. Just my two cents.

Yeah, I'm no hurry too, right now the bike is in very good shape & running upto 1200+ Kms a month. The only custom parts are stock 132 cylinder on standard piston with 28mm flatslide, Yamaha front disc & 5 speed gears. All others are stock including the tyres. I'm restoring the vehicle so that it can last few more years & now I'm sick of perf mods.

@aargee - diamond kit is an aftermarket casting of the same engine block. It would work, but not as long as the OEM kit and not perform as well.
Parts can be couriered to you in chennai. Should reach you in two- three days if sent by regular courier. a week - ten days if sent by a transporter.
