Post Acquired a new (old ) 1988 RX-100

Guys im new to this form. I was very much influenced by RX 100 from childhood and finally I found one Rx 100 for myself. I don’t have much idea about rebuilding so those who are expert in Yamaha please advice.

Presently im not planning to tough the engine as it’s in a good condition.

i wanted to know that is my 88 model is more that 100cc?

What is compression test, what I will come to know by doing that test?

Im staying in Bangalore and I am planning to change the below mentioned parts as of now. Could you please let me know how much it will costs

1. Full paint (Original Red)
2. Ignition key (Which one is good? Minda or Yamaha RXZ)
3. Electrical wiring + converting to 12v
4. Meter with Rpm
5. Front and back Mudguard
6. Original Seat
7. Footrest
8. Exhaust pipe (will I get original?)

Here I have attached the snap of my lady. Soon I’ll be posting new photos

Congrats on the Rx Akshay...

Being a '88 model it in a decent condition I must say and an interesting paint scheme too. I dont think '88 model is nore than 100cc its the same 98cc trusted mill.

IMHO

The ignition key of the RXZ is better and I would recommend you to get the complete front end of the RXZ so that you'll be able to install front disc if you wish. Also the RXZ speedo assembly would fulfill your wish for rpm meter as well and also centralized handlebar lock...

As for others you'll get OEM as far as i know...

Good Luck with your rebuild and keep us updated with stories and pics...

Looks like it is using Yezdi 16 inchers in rear. You might want that to go sock 18 inchers. On the basis of my rebuild, here are some cost estimates.

1. Full paint (Original Red) - 3500
2. Ignition key (Which one is good? Minda or Yamaha RXZ) - Comes with the complete lock set. Minda. RXZ will be hard to get.
3. Electrical wiring + converting to 12v - 1500
4. Meter with Rpm - Go for stock meters, plonking the rpm requires precision.
5. Front and back Mudguard Front - 900, Rear 500 (2 piece)
6. Original Seat - 880
7. Footrest - 300
8. Exhaust pipe (will I get original?) - The RX100 stock muffler will be hard to find.

As said earlier by swingarm, the Meter with RPM you can go for RXZ's, however, drilling the engine case should be precise.

The other option would be to get RXZ engine case for the RPM meter set up, since the brand new ones are hard to find these days, might want to think about a used one from junk yard should you really want that done.

With regards to exhaust pipe, what I can suggest is to get new chrome pipe, remove the existing muffler/core (flute like thing at the rear end of exhaust) and fit the existing RX100's muffler/core on to the new pipe for the RX100 beat. New chrome pipe costs around 1570MRP.

Wiring harness kit - use Minda, it costs around 280.

Full paint including chassis, engine case, exhaust pipe, tanks, shield would cost around 8k. I got a quotation for this recently.
