Default My LEGEND !!

Hey guys ...
how are you people doing ??

I have been on this forum for i approx past 4 years or something like that !! Been mostly a reader than a contributor. You can guess that from the number of my posts here ....

well anyways today i am here not to read ...or comment about anything ...i am here to share a sense of joy or rather i should say a sense of thrill that i have been experiencing for the past 20 days or something !! since i am the 'unknown' guy out here, lemme introduce myself...i am just another guy ...who, like all the members of this forum is into a religion called "motorbiking". I dont call myself a "biker" because people tend to take me as a young blooded "poser"....because being called that way would be an insult for something i just adore and love... a

Apart from drooling on websites gazing at bike's pics and dreaming about owning many of them,i waste my time working with a major automobile manufacturer of india .....cant name...privacy policy ...hehe.. and obviously if i am riting this at 4 PM on monday evening, i gotta be in my office rite now ...which to a beautiful coincidence is TRUE !! (now you know my PRIVACY POLICY)

My relation with 2 wheels dates back to around 12 years in history when, after much begging, my dad accepted to teach me how to ride his scooter...it was LML select II and i was 12 yrs at that time...Illegal..i know ... couldnt help it....i had already learnt driving a car...n trust me it wasnt that interesting...or maybe because i wasnt driving a power housed car !! bt whatever !!

***some fast forwards (i know i am a slow narrator...thats the reason i am FFing dude) ***
learnt bike.... completed school ..went to college...wasnt allowed to own a motorcycle in college...had to buy a Hero Hawk (cycle, my college was strict....stupid administration)...got placed.. collected money for the first 3 months n ..... WOLLAH !! i have my own Yamaha R15....it was september 2008....did all sorts of crazy stuff...wheelie...stoppie(almost)...burnout....top whack of 145 kmph...loooong looooong trips...*phew*

January 2010...after zooming on R15 for about 15 months ...a new feeling caught hold of me...i was in a delima ... i had the fastest indian bike..i could make other eat dirt while in a race...but then i was not happy ... the feeling of owning a bike thats made as a replica of a bigger bike was something i couldnt digest.....i wanted an Original one.....i loved my R15 ...but that didnt give me satisfaction .....the pride....it somehow made me look like a poser !! ....thats when i decided to Own the LEGEND. Posted few ads in various forums and within a month my R15 was sold...got a good deal out of it....the very next day booked my Thunderbird !! and the wait period started !!

Its been 1 month since i booked my Legend.....it has been mixed feeling....firstly my First bike(yeah my THE first bike) getting sold and the new one coming home !! And tomorrow i am getting my bike delivered....cant wait to get it !! only i can tell that how much i am waiting for this stupid office to end, the evening to set and the new day to begin !! n the icing to the cake - I am the first customer to a newly opened dealership out here....so that means me getting lots n lots of Royal Enfield Goodies ............

Although there had been lots n lots of bad luck involved in this purchase...but then i will talk about it later....today its the day for celebration !!

Dunno if Mod will allow to create a new thread....if you do then thanks...if you dont then kindly let me know where you moved it !!

good story there! indeed a very big change from two different segments in a short period. enjoy your new ride.

@Mods.. can we have a separate forum for the Thumpers now that so much is happening at Enfield with so many fans growing by the day?

well if r15 is a copy of big sports bikes...isnt thunderbird a copy of choppers mixed with enfields...why not the original enfield...doesnt that make a poser by itself.

well i think not !! atleast royal enfield didnt take an egg out of mothership R1 and got it fertilized with indian condition to create a mutant to suit the our roads !!
also dude kindly note that thunderbird isnt a chopper !! it would be a wiser statement if u would have stated it to be in sportster category !! i hope u know what i mean !

This is the bike when i bought it !!! STOCK !! it was around 1.00 PM ....

FRONT VIEW
Time was 5.00 PM....got some mods done !! the showroom people were like " sir atleast let the vehicle be in the original condition for few days ..then get the mods done..."

Rear View.....

Comparison ....thats my friend's TBTS......

Mods done are : Changed the handle to bullet electra....gives a more firm and manly sitting..similar to Bullet.....and removed the back rest !!

comments are invited !!

the bike does actually look like chopper inspired rather than a sportster/roadster.. but u sure tried to bring it down by plonking lower handlebars etc.. i think RD handlebar would suit the best here. i like the engine but hate the excessively protruding silencer beyond the wheelbase.
