Good effort friend !!
The Top portion of the Console ( which you posted) is not BAKELITE as you say its PURE LEATHER, the bottom stuff which holds other instruments is BAKELITE !!
This is for (Y) Our kind information
PS: All the JAWA "Kyavaka" ( Tank Key) had this type of Leather Tops only ( the original stuff posted to left)

& off the topic: Perak Jawa's had Aluminum Console, but not Casting, its Sheet metal deep drawn, like our utensils !!
pps: I have seen most people claim that as BAKELITE, just observe the stuff once more

Yes friend like this>>>>>

& one more thing even you would have noticed is:: As you have taken sand mold with the Original leather console...any way as it is hard leather, bit flexible..so the it would have become bit straight instead of small radius in the outer periphery of the molded product ( here the alloy console)
So I can see the bottom portion of the converging side is not matching properly to the tank profile...so in case of going for further production, plz rectify the existing small defects in a alloy pattern & then go for casting......
@ six speed: This is your product only...I did this fixing job for one of our xbhpian only

I beg to differ ...

I have 2 consoles with me and none of them is leather ... if u observe the older advertisements for the Jawa Perak, it has the same console as ours.

I know it is not leather coz i have worked on one to fit in a regular Yezdi ignition switch and another to take a Rajdoot bobby switch.

I have also dropped a third console accidentally and it shattered like bakelite.

With all due respect powertwin, it is not leather.

The reason u may not be getting a perfect fit is coz there is a rubber gasket surrounding the console to make a snug fit on the tank.
