Default Yamaha GX400 - Is it worth the trouble?

Hi people. There's a really old rotten GX400 lying around in my compound. The original owner has abandoned it. Since I know the person I'm thinking of taking the bike and having it restored. Since I haven't contacted him yet I don't know its history.

I basically wanted details about this bike. I've never seen one on Indian roads. How much did it retail at? Assuming it's salvageable, how rare is it and is it worth the trouble?

I can take pix tomorrow but they'll be poor quality as I only have a camera phone. Really sorry I didn't take any but I shall and they should be up by this time tomorrow.

First look at availability of parts, and source service manuals/owners guide etc for the bike. Then look into the feasibility of the project.

@ samrath

go for it dude....
almost a month ago i had seen a 1973 yamaha tx 500 under my friends apartment..
spent all the time in the world to convince my dad and he finally said okay...

filled with joy and doing all the homework about the bike and collecting service manuals and stuff i reached that place to ask the owner about selling it to me but it was no longer there..........

he sold it off to someone else....
do it before its too late! atleast i know how it feels when its off..

even i used to ask myself and people that is it worth, i figured out that it of course is.
