Default Bring a dying baby back to life

The Prologue

It was soon after I rode the RD350 that my interest in "2nd stroke" began to pump up. And it more or less became a desire to acquire a 2 stroker when I rode one of my friends' (Shyam) rebuilt RX135 5s. The hunt for a 2 stroker began in no time. However, the plan was dropped off a number of times because of some family issues. My father wanted only one bike to be parked downstairs. Now, I even kept forward the idea of parking the bike at Shyam's place who lives just down the road. But NO! To cut the story short, I finally got an RXZ for 11k and working upon it.

Baby Shower

But the day I got the baby home, I invited my father to take a ride. The first "rebuking" took place when he said n"no horn?". Then on several other aspect. The funniest part was when he was not able to kick start the bike and I did it for him. I still remember him saying "aaj tak kick nahi maari kisi bike me". He was right to some extent as Kinetic Honda, LML Vespa Select, HH Ambition DSS, P220 and the TVS Scooty Streak...all came with a self starter!!!

The Story Begins

Anyhow, things have settled down and the work on the bike began with minor servicing comprising of Carburetor cleaning, oil change, air filter cleaning and tuning. That gave a boost to the bike and it has started performing quite well as compared to its previous condition. The bike came with a Mikuni VM24 with a delighting imprint of "made in Japan".

The work to be done

  • Engine overhaul, may be (or surely) a piston change and some crank work. Basically bringing it back to stock condition.

  • Cosmetics including paint (pearl white), chrome on rims, handle change to Motocross one, Side panels, entire wiring, light, handle switches...mmm thats about it as of now.

any comments/suggestions/inputs welcome

@ Insane

thats true....

@TPC

Well, went to the mechanic to get an estimate for the engine work including crank, piston, clutch plates etc...came out to be under 3k

but then when the engine was opened...we were not able to guess as to what piston is it. One thing for sure, the present one was of a local made called Diamond. Was not able to guess as to what stage it was.

And when the cylinder kit was opened, we got to know that its time that we get a new cylinder kit!!! First thing that came to my mind was the budget that has increased in the first go, but most importantly...where will I get a cylinder kit for 135???

Anyhow, the mechanic told us that he "may" find one for us but also told us to keep our search on for the cylinder kit as well....Well that was all for day one of restoring the machine.

Can anyone of you please help me find a reliable cylinder kit for 135???
