well you gotta give more info as to whats the age of the bike, which model, how many kms done. any modifications anything done to it. You need to be more specific.

I dont have a bike in mind, and neither have i seen one. Am only trying to get an idea of the market price before i start looking. as I said, am looking for an Electra 350 with the AVL engine, in a good working condition. I dont really give a damn about paint and cosmetics, those things can be sorted out later, what I will be seeing is good engine, gearbox, no modifications to these and to the chassis and good electrical.

Most prices are over-quoted. Most bikes do not deserve the price quoted.

These are recent sales I've seen of bikes in good-to-excellent condition:
2007 Machismo 350 (ES) - 55k
1984 Bullet 350 - 35k
2005 Standard 350 - 40k
2008 Electra -

Generally, a bike that is not worked upon or not rebuilt or in bad-to-okay condition should be approximately:
1980s Bullet - 20k
1990s Bullet - 25k
2000 - 2004 - 25-45k (depending on the year and model)

Sadly, its difficult to find one in these prices. But thats what they are actually worth.

Be in for a real good shock then. You're looking at a bike that is hardly 5 years old. For such a bike to be in bad paint/cosmetic condition is a good enough pointer to guage how the mechanicals/electricals/maintainence would be.

Your main concern for a five year old bike should be everything, thats how you can negotiate on the price. The owner will definitely boast about the mileage and year of the bike and quote you high. The paint/cosmetics/accident history/engine work/mechanical-chassis work/etc HAS to be deducted from the quote (if not done so already).

A friend of mine here in Bnagalore has quoted me 50k for a 1988 standard, his excuse is that it s got very low miles on it about 13k aprox. Which I thisnk is rather high but he claims he has had offers for upto 60k.

If he is planning on selling his bike, he would have already sold it for 60k.

I've got offers of around 75k for my 2005 Machismo, but thats not the point. I can still charge a premium high price for my bike because I know how I have kept it and maintained it.

As far as I've seen Enfields, for bikes that are more than ten years old it doesn't matter how many people have owned it - condition and model is all that counts. Mostly you'll find Bullets in 80s-90s model, quoting around 35-50k. They are actually worth only 20-30k. Butttt if the condition is good, if the cosmetics are good, if the chassis/paint/wheels/etc are good then ONLY pay more than 40k+, else don't bother.
