Default Battery for Yezdi

Hi,

I ride a Yezdi RK. Wanted to check if anyone has tried using the dry batteries from Amaron or any other manufacturer in them?
My mechie says that the dry batteries won't work at all on the bike and will need to be changed in a couple of months.

Also, of all the manufacturers available, which battery should we go for preferably?
We have Tata Green, Amaron, Exide, etc.
Although I've had a terrible experience with Exide always.

Please share your advise and suggestions on this.

Godspeed!

In all my 2-strokes I use Tafe maintenance free UPS batteries.

You mech is partly right on maintenance free battery not working on old 2 strokes. Reason being that all the new ones (esp Amaron) requires bang 12/14 volt input from the charging coil; when there's less power input, the charging would take time, no issues. But if its more, the battery goes kaput soon. Not sure what modern day vehicles deploy to monitor this mechanism.

But what needs to be changed, I'm not sure. I would anyday prefer going to old school battery for old school bikes.

Nothing wrong; but the thing is ensure you don't have a cut off device or something to knock anything more than 12V input charge.

Not sure; I remember reading an incident posted where the guy had to change the battery in 2 or 6 months. May be looking deeper into modern day motorcycles & their charging system will give us some light. Afterall, we also love to plonk a modern day battery into our love isn't it?

Any normal battery. Stay away from this dry, fried extra toast batteries. Amaron screwed my happiness for well over two weeks Spent close to Rs.2000 fixing a problem that didn't exist and finally got rid of the dry cell battery. Installed Exide Bikerz and its running fine now.

Issue with Amaron in my opinion is their quality is not consistent when it comes to two-wheeeler batteries. I do think there are more faulty pieces making its way to the end customer than tolerable.

Nope; Sry Nitin, they've a very good quality among the Indian brands, but, like I said before, they're more suitable for modern day motorcycles.

Thats what even I thought initally, that our old two strokers can't give out consistent 14V.

While installing Exide, o/p was checked at the battery terminal with Exide battery and it didn't exceed 14.8V. But same bike, with Amaron dry cell battery it was showing 17+V.

How does one explain this?

EDIT: My dad is using an Amaron dry cell battery on his 135 for almost 1.5yrs now. No issues.

First, I couldn't understand this, can you give few more details pls?

Did you measure the output from the charging unit without connecting the batteries?
