Default www.dreamriders.co.in- art in motion concepts

Hi there

We are a small company based out of Delhi. Our history is simple-we began fooling around with our own bikes and then started to change things. Some others told us we do a good job and we came into being in 2007 much to the horror of our mothers & wives, delight of our fathers who were bike freaks in their youth and envy of our friends for pursuing our passion whereas they were locked into jobs. That also tells u young guys out there how old we are J

Since then we have changed things slowly but steadily- from body parts to new chasis, to engine overbores, performance filters, to free flow exhausts to complete redesigns and fabrication not to mention headcount of people.

We call our design philosophy and the creations we handcraft projects Art in Motion becoz we believe they are moving pieces of art -difference being that you can ride our art. Art in motion concepts for us are equal part engineering & aesthetics- a blend of form and function. We use a mix of hand craft and CNC machines for fabrication.

We have built to date over 70 art in motion projects for our customers in India and abroad. We are in the process of now setting up a branch in UK for export. We now have in house CAD designer & engineer, a panel of designers who help us in generating concepts, mechanics and denters. We are now ISO 9000 accredited in 2010 and have a full in house testing that we undertake before releasing our concepts to customers post the ISO 9000 accreditation.

Over the course of 3 years we have accumulated a large amount of learning to input into our quality control from using jigs to manufacture frames/ chasis to using CAD design and CNC machines for fabrication for high quality output. Without a doubt, we are more expensive than most people but in return we offer a 1 year walk in guarantee for return of a manufacturing defect- no questions asked. If you undertake a full custom design with us, we will not manufacture the same design for at least 6 months and even then we alter it so your design will remain unique.

Over a period of time we have expanded our offering to include custom paint jobs, vintage restoration. We are now entering performance modifications and now are slowly expanding to cars as well as sports motorcycles but our first love has remained thumpers like the good old RE.

Please do check out our art in motion projects on www.dreamriders.co.in

bouquets and brickbats are welcome- after all beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

Apart from the above we also undertake corporate fabrication of custom projects under our allied concern Incredible consultants. We have undertaken prototyping of electric vehicles likes rickshaws and 3 wheelers, design concepts for fast response vehicles, as well as mobile vending systems to full large tonnage vehicle concepts.

Your site is looking good. So for what all do you've the CNC machines being used? Do you design right from customizing frame to making sprockets & allow wheels or only simple alterations on frames?

Default CNC machining

On the query of what all we do on CNC machines

1. I have now a CAD engineer sitting with Catia. We are reverse engineering all the RE data into the computer. I am 90 % complete on the frame and sheet metal parts.

I need some time to be able to map out the engine parts which unfortunately due to paucity of time i am in India i am unable to do for now.

2. We are in the process of adding in data on sprockets / handle bar fixtures/ foot rest extensions/ indicators/ stop lights to cover off all the acccessories we make- so we no longer have to go to manual lathe/ milling work.

3. I have designed a universal jig on which i can get frames of upto 5feet of lenth and 2 feet width made in single or double cradle formations for cruisers/ choppers. U can set various rake angles in the frame neck done using the jig and ensure aligment is always correct no mattter what kind of frame we make. Also it allows for better welding and lower chances of warping happening.

4. i am getting CAD data capture done on the same frames to be able to undertake supply of frames of 3 different configurations for people who are interested to buy just frames from us.

5. I am experimenting right now with CAD data for sheet metal for trying out new type of dies to see if we can produce these to be able to offer people different configurations of tanks/ side panels and mudguards - either in fully finished i.e painted or non painted format. We have the sample formats ready for these installable units. i.e u can walk into our workshop and see 7 examples of the installable kits. All u have to do is buy one and we can fix these onto your RE in 3 hours. I will do a separate write up in this in a little while.

6. Alloy wheels- yes we can do custom alloy wheels- unfortunately cost is hugely probhitive to mill out from an alumunium blank an alloy and i have not found someone willing to pay that much money-its one of the reasons i am looking to see if we can set up some export.

hope that helps

Excellent; Just noticed your location London & Delhi, no wonder you're having such a systematic approach to things. I like it & this is the way to go about things. Cost is always secondary for a quality output.

This has always been a myth to me, but still I hope you find some time to answer.

When the stock engineering of the entire motorcycle is being altered except the engine, wouldn't the performance of the custom motorcycle take a hit? Yes, it can be improved using several after market parts such as FFE, changing intake manifold etc, but still, that would that suffice? In the case of west, most engines are powerful enough producing 50-60 bhp just sufficient to carry the load compared to the puny 19-20 bhp motors here. Is it just a myth of mine or something more?

@ on the performance compromise- Depends on the kind of change done.

I have made a couple of versions which are nearly as light/lighter than a standard bullet( becoz in my chasis i use alloys - experimenting with alumunium ) . To boost performance - i have then layered on K&N filter + valve seat excavation + exhaust porting +an 2nd exhaust bore + free flow exhaust + larger jet + overboring the engine. This performance mod cum custom will beat a stock bullet everytime except on fuel consumption. However not too many clients go for this.

However on the other hand, the ones where i have fitted 300mm tyres with dual chain drive - you would be absolutely right-even 25-bhp ( u can get near this is i suspect from the performance enhanced 500cc - have never done a dyno though so dont hold me to it ) is not enough to pull that weight and inertia- so they do become showpieces...that u drive slow- max 70-80kmph- On a bike that size its quite impressive as it is- they are meant to be flaunted and cant manoever also given their size.

I have a Hysoung aquila i have bought recently to experiment with- Waiting for a customer to make a V twin thumper custom with a 300mm rear tyre- that engine with the performance mods will be close to an international power bands
