Default So guys I heard you think RX stock timing is impeccable

RX timing is screwed most of the time. My RX100 is bone stock no modifications were done anywhere it rolled off in 1992 so it's not one of the 6v to 12v cases. The motor was rebuilt this February ran the damn thing in just fine, been using excellent quality 2t oil. I did a WOT run recently the damn thing did not want to cross 80kmph came back home only to be greeted my old friend piston slap lol I am dead sure the clearances were set right because I read the numbers from the workshop manual and made the machine shop guy run those numbers down for me. With this grime in the back of my head I posted my query on what I like to call one of the best automotive forums on the internets, yes the RDD. Anyways for the doubters and haters ima post a bunch of clips I just got down from my phone let the marks speak for themselves but guys put your RXs under a timing light and if there are any problems dial your timing in because screwed up timing WILL trash your motor in no time.

Props fly out to Ron, Prd, satish and rohitsuparu at RDD.

if the timing was correct both the lines should have lined up with little or no variation, btw how did you set the tdc, also did you check it with another cdi unit

RX stock timing is 3* BTDC at idle and it should advance to max 20* BTDC at 5k rpm as you can see it isn't 3* BTDC at idle. I found the TDC using a positive piston stop I made with an old plug, there's a new stock CDI in the bike that I got from the Yamaha dealership no swiss crap.

Yup!! hehehe a 2 stroke should never kick back my RX kicks back like a bullet would that's the first sign of wrong advance at idle. Need to work up a good number coz if I go crazy with the retard part I'll loose the low-mid end grunt but that should give me a good top, at least that's what theory says. As of now the top end is totally crap and need to sort out the jetting part as well OH! So much to do so little time!

ROFL!!!! Mine kicked back too after I rebuilt it!!! Horrendous it was. Took a couple of months to find an original. Yes, also from a scrapyard. Wonder why such awesome stuff goes into a scrapyard????

So finally you got hold of a gun a did the stuff yourself! Too good! That timing should really make you worry. What are the options you have? Change the CDI and check again or just retard your present timing but you'll still be stuck at static! [but hey, with so many champions running static time on their superfast RXs and RDs you shouldnt really be bothered!] What say?

That's the least of my worries man Just marked the idle and max advance on the rotor started her up 2 observations, and I can tell you everything that Ron says about stock timing is nothing but the truth, anyways without further digression they are:

1. The motor is stuck in max advance, heh I can retard it by drilling holes in stater

2. When I "try" to rev it's tits off the timing jumps around everywhere like it's the end of the world and this is not good,<<< HOW IN THE BLUE HELL DO I SOLVE THIS?!?!?!

damn IT!!!!! NOW I CAN'T RIDE MY RX LIKE I NORMALLY WOULD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and I don't like riding around in uncleji mode :'( video will come soon and that will be the most conclusive proof of how the stupid RX stock CDI is nothing but "puto estupido perra"
