i agree with joel...Its more esier to find RX spares than that of any 2-stroke from TVS/Suzuki..Go for a RXZ 5 Speed is wht i suggest. Its not easy to find one in BLR and people sk for anything upto 40K for this one....

If you want to restore or rebuild it and keep it at home as a collector's item, then it is ok to go for a Shaolin. But you will still be scratching your head to find spares.
Except engine parts, you can find most others parts like side covers, mudguards and stuff form samurai or MAXm and you can re paint them.
If you are still confused about spare availability, then you can try finding an airbox for the Shaolin or the carburetor needle.
You man never find a new one.

try finding the shaolin piston rings set or even a cylinder. U find nothing. If someone is assuring you, ask him to bet on this.
Shaolins have no oversize pistons and the cheapest conversion is using RX pistons with con-rod. However it will never run like a shaolin again.
Back in 2002 I had issues finding spares in Bangalore and I have the best sources. All come to bangalore for shogun/shaolin spares as its the closest city to the TVS factory at Hosur (just 30kms away) and if u cant get here, its never. No wonder ur getting the bike for a steal.
I know of a few Goa dealers who come here for spares.
Get an RX instead man, thats worth the money. Not this.

True. I do not have a Shaolin but I own a Shogun. I am from Kolkata and I am trying to source my Shogun spares from Bangalore. Fact is that they are just very HARD to find. TVS does sell spares but they are not the same quality that used to be. For example my Shogun clutch plates used to cost Rs. 1400 while now they are available for Rs. 200 (genuine TVS spares) , obviously they are not of the same quality. Even you can rebuild a Shogun if you get one with an unabused engine. Everything related to the engine will be very very HARD to find.

At times I spend hours calling various TVS dealers all over the country if they have spares from their old stock. If you are seriously considering a Shaolin or a Shogun then you have to be a "spare" collector. Whereever, whenever you get a spare, even if the parts is ok on your bike, you got to purchase it and keep it in your collection. If you go to a vacation somewhere and you find a TVS dealer with a workshop in business for the last 10 yrs you need to check it out with hope for a few spares. If you visit big cities, you have to go to the scrap dealers to find if you can get something worthy. The scrap dealers in Kolkata keep many mint or rarely used spares (Discovery channel really needs to cover this amazing place in Kolkata but thats another story).

Long story short, you need to take care of the bike in a real "caring" way, and devote ample time and thoughts behind it.

guys i couldnt control and there was like a calling of that bike towards me so i went ahead and bought it. . . .the "steal" of a price i was mentioning was only rs 2000/- preety cool haan...........so i was just inspecting it, alot seems to be needed to be changed. But ive taken up this challenge and ama make it work some day or atleast do up the body and keep it as a collectors item. still keep the suggestions flowing in.

As soon as i get some cash wil go after the engine repairs and keep ull informed but incase any of u guys plan to fund me cash or spares....... work wont start by this year or the next 4 months of 2009 atleast.

will try n post pics asap.

A bike for Rs2000/- ? lol amazing price , take it man , if it would not run , you can atleast make it a showpiece , these days showpieces are even costly than 2000INR.
