As the bore has run enough and when it needs to get a more neat inner surface matching the piston , it is bored to 0.25mm oversize. and it goes on in 0.25 mm steps upto 1.5mm is what i have heard.
Then comes the crucial part, though all boring are crucial, the Sleeving job. This is something which needs precision and expertise care to get a good sleeve. But my doubt is... 1.How different is the performace of the bike on a STD Block and a STD sleeved block? 2. And how does the performance vary as and when the STD block is bored and STD SLEEVED block is bored? ( I know that the heat dissipation on the STD block is better than that in a SLEEVED BORE). Can anyone pour more light on this? Thank you. Last edited by ujwaldignified; 06-27-2009 at 01:21 AM. |

Performance of a steel sleeved engine will always be below standars bores due to the amount of heat generated. Also if the sleeve job is not done properly it causes massive wear and tear in the engine. I have heard that titanium sleeves work better.

lol..titanium sleeves and all eh
nice knowledge bank you got theresleeves are made in cast iron, and yes resleeving your RD cylinders is a good option provided its done well. the reason sleeving is such a bad word in india is because the person doing it has no clue how to cut the ports right, and match them well. this is also due to lack of proper porting tools. a properly done sleeve setup works as good or even better than an unsleeved setup, IF done well. I'd say go for it I've seen 1.5mm pistons go in an RD. If you can find the pistons, please do go ahead with that too.
