Hmmm... no wonder!!! Try something like Motul 510. It is quite likely you may see another big drop in emissions.

While posting the above in this very thread long back i was dissapointed that compared to other RX's around mine returned very poor figures in the Emmition dept. That too after regular servicing every 2000 kms and sane riding. Recently my buddy shivanshu recommended that switch to Yamalube 2T. Since I have used Yamalube 2T believe me what readings I got on my recent Pollution check -

Code:
Measured Level CO: 0.96
Measured Level HC: 1479
Its a '99 Yamaha Rx135 (4 Speed) and in a recent trip to Lansdowne it returned FE figures of 50+ on highways.. I am loving it...

PS: Special thanks to Shivanshu.
Got a PUC cert. for my Shogun today, after a v long time!

These are the readings:

CO = 0.6%
HC = 900 ppm

According to the certificate, the emission for my bike should be less than the following:

CO - 4.5%
HC - 9,000 ppm

Why is the damn test so lenient?? That means if someone's bike has the above absurdly high readings, it would still pass!! Whats more, they haven't filled up the fields for Nonmethane hydrocarbons and reactive hydrocarbons. Do they normally leave this out??

That said, currently my bike is running on Castrol Power 1 Jet X 2t on auto-lube and have tuned it myself. Hope to test it again after I switch to Motul 510. Hopefully, emissions will drop further.

i am running 3% of whatever 2T oil they sell at IO petrol pumps. don't use any fancy fully synthetics and all that.
my bike does not emit any kind of visible smoke even on high speeds of early morning starts with choke switched on. (I had to face a engine seizure cause of no smoke like 2 years back)

today i got a Pollution check done and compared it with the previous one.

Rite after the engine rebuild the pollution check was like this

CO Measured level was 1.63
HC Measured level was 3680

this is dated 30 Jan 2009

got a pollution check done now
dated 03 July 2009
CO Measured level was 0.09
HC Measured level was 1683

The guy at the Pollution check was surprised and said "Bhai saab bahut dino baad aye ho. aur aapki hi ik aisi yamaha hamare paas ati hai jiska PARDUSHAN clear ho jata hai."

hey pal...
do u have a tuned exhaust for ur RX??
which kinda plug are you using???

Man thats some figures you've got.. Yeah even i have my doubts on these testing centres as i have seen them clearing bikes failing the test in turn having their palms greased.

Ya, I have heard amazing stories. Its all a farce...

Anyway, the place were I went seemed relatively ok. The guy said he will fill only the exact figures as shown on the display. Anyway, I'm more concerned with the accuracy of the equipment they use... cus the emission readings also say stuff about the health of your engine...
