Smile My RX 135 4 speed

Hello friends , after a lot of thinking unfortunately I have to trouble you and take some help . I have to get my RX rebuilt from scratch . Bothered some of you by asking questions . Apologize for any thing wrong I did .

Well now coming to the bike . It is in pieces at the moment. Almost everything will be new . Was having a lot of trouble to get parts and specially a good mechanic ( went through many mechanics ) . Live in a town so the problems . Finally managed to take the bike to a proper place . Found a decent mechanic and he says he will try and source some parts . Though he does not know all things but who cares . He knows SOMETHING .

Now as the bike is being made from 0 . I though it would be wise to ask you all about your opinions about what parts should go in and what should be kept stock make .

My bike is stock RX 135 4 speed .

Now the major things I am planning are :
1. Front disc setup .

2. New wiring harness. ( Which one should I go for ? ... the current one I had did not have a Pass light switch also . So need to buy some other holder also for it ? But then again which one ? )

3. Paint and new bolts and engine screw kit .

4. Con rod ( thinking TKR ) .

5. Now the biggest dilemma i am in is that I have to get a new bore kit .
So was thinking it is better to convert it to 5 speed or let it remain 4 speed .
Is a stock 5 speed really worth to go for ? . I read that it does not have the initial pull and mid range as a 4 speed . Then I dont understand why people run about crying for 5 speed , may be after porting and other mods a 5 speed becomes a monster . Otherwise for city riding I dont think stock 5 speed may fit the equation .
I was running 3 rd over size on my 4 speed which was hell fun only in the mid range . low end and top end . Well low end was decent .
So would it be fun again with new bore kit ? . Or hopeless .
What difference is there in the ride quality of 4 sp and 5 sp ?
There are no 5 sp around so cant ride and see .

6. Which way to go for lighting stuff ? . I mean stick to stock coil and unit or go for coil rewinding or convert to dc and put HID . Then in the latter case which reflectors etc i ll need ? .
Dont know a lot confused here.

7. To go or not for some chinese alloys so that i can use tubeless Tyres ?

8. The Size of the rims front and rear ? .

9. Rear shock options .

Please suggest whatever you all feel is right thing to do . You can PM me also if you want .

Thanks to these people , in no particular order , whom i bombarded with questions and they replied patiently to my question so far on whatever topic I asked . And to those whom without which i did not feel xbhp would have been so good . Thanks for your time pals .

1. Front disc setup .

Go for Gladiator set up

2. New wiring harness. ( Which one should I go for ? ... the current one I had did not have a Pass light switch also . So need to buy some other holder also for it ? But then again which one ? )

RXZ 5 speed harness.

3. Paint and new bolts and engine screw kit .

OE-dealer

4. Con rod ( thinking TKR ) .

If you find the original TKR

5. Now the biggest dilemma i am in is that I have to get a new bore kit .

5 speed gives better top end, 4 speed is fun in the city

6. Which way to go for lighting stuff ? . I mean stick to stock coil and unit or go for coil rewinding or convert to dc and put HID . Then in the latter case which reflectors etc i ll need ? .
Dont know a lot confused here.

there are 90/110 lighting kits (magneto, stator plate,ign-coil, digital/analog cdi, included ) available but costs a fortune approx 8k.You can use a DCM TOYOTA beam on the stock RX dome modifying it by heating the rear and shaping with a tumbler to make extra room for the pin holder

7. To go or not for some chinese alloys so that i can use tubeless Tyres ?

check whether Gladiator/Alba alloys can be fixed

8. The Size of the rims front and rear ? .

Stock 18"

9. Rear shock options .

OE shocks as they maintain the heirht and suits the weight unless you are on are 80+ kg.try the new Discover 100 gas shox if the height is same

@outworldly maniac: good thought on the rebulild !

my suggestion to go for a new 5 speed & 5 gear box for the rebuild, stock 5 speed is a really a gun when you compare to a 4 speed ride the 2 together you will know the difference

rest of things will agree with what satishg said

Get the new wiring harness kit of 04 model one that would do.

Stock is enough dont do circus with rims, get the 04 model rims donno the sizes will confirm later.

The 04 model rims are a thad wider and takes 90/90x18 tyre easily, the old one's cant take more than 3.00x18

Suggest you stick to a 4 Speed gearbox and bore condition in the city... The wiring kit can be the 5 speed one. The switchgears can the Victor Switchgear set( I presume you are using one now?) and fit them on the shogun handle bar. Get your coils rewound and Install better H/L's I'm Thinking of converting mine to DC but thats just a idea... Try the Unicorn/ Thunderbird disc setup.. Use TIG welding on them to fit your forks..

Just my ideas...

All the best with the rebuild!

WRT Engine and Gbox - IMHO, if you get the engine ported midly, you will save on investment in a 5speed BorePiston kit. Use that money to get other stuff for your bike. You can mate a 5spGbox with 5speed Ch-Sp kit as well.

Thanks ragav . Did not get what you were saying according to victor .
Yeah i know 4 speed in fun in the city but always felt the need of another gear , like overtaking and accelerating is just awesome man , but when there was a clear stretch of road .... no fun .
And TIG welding ... I just found I am damn unlucky .. always get stuck with wrong people . NO one knows a shit about here . I am appalled knowing the illiteracy here man . Very rare ( atleast in bombay ) know about bikes . Others all i found by experience do thookpatti jobs . I mean mechanics since age of two strokes whom i met are also dumb about timing and jetting and all . One mech said on two stroke timing is static . Even i know more than him .
Need your wishes badly ... thanks .

Thanks sandeep .
Porting is greek here . And already was on 3rd oversize , now 4th . How much more it will run ? . Frankly mostly porting here means increase port sizes .
Anyways considering your idea . One other person also told me about it .
Will it be ok also if I run the 4 speed head and bore kit and put a 5 speed gearbox and 5 speed chain sprocket kit ? , because a 4th oversize can be somewhere near a 5 speed port kinds .

@ Prajeep anna ... oops uncle or rather RX Uncle

Thanks for your reply . Ya will go as you say .
