Guys i have a situation and i need your assistance.
Atul and Joel with your expertise, if you could throw some light would appreciate a lot. 1.Sounds from the engine. As soon as is start the vehicle rev it a little as the reving slows down a sound comes from the engine(tan tan tan) am guessing its con-rod. While running another kind of sound its more constant at 40 - 50 kmph speeds, am guessing its because chain sprocket might have worn out or the engine bearings. 2.Bike chokes in 2nd and 3rd gear. In 2nd and 3rd gear at half the throttle bike starts to choke as if its out of breath and it regains the speed later.(Any one wanna crack this case) Gear shift is not that smooth either. 3.Fuel Tank and the Rust. fuel tank is all rusted just under the seat, hardly i could trace remains of any paint over there. so any suggestions. 4.Side and Rear panels/Stickers. |

1,2 and 3. Get an entire engine overhaul. IF u have to source a new block n piston its not impossible but though. so no loosing hope. You wont have to source a conrod if its not ok, u can get it done up with a local chari, thats wat i was told to do atelast. n chain sprocket - fiero's, however ull have to get a local 14T front sprock as the fiero comes witha 13T one, other small engine accesories like bearings n oil seals n clutch plates n all are availabe. so no issues. get to a good mech n monitor the engine rebuild day after day. You dont have to worry much if hes a experienced mech.
Panels u get easily on JC road banglore and stickers well am still looking for them Last edited by Nikhil Pereira; 10-24-2009 at 01:43 AM. |

ok that used to happen to my bike as well, but only on the move.. the way i got rid of it was to ride the bike with no idling.. am not kidding.. try this.. remove the idling from the bike.. while riding, let go of the throttle and see while the revs reduce, if the "tan tan" sound remains, it should go away, i think the older shaolin came with a really light magneto, later models they increased the weights.. if the sound is a rattle (at idle) then its a clearance issue.. not too sure of the second sound.. if the rear sprocket is worn you notice serious amount of slippage while accelerating hard, will be tough to miss Quote:
carb cleaned recently? check the jets.. Quote:
strip and paint, if the rust is really bad you might have to buy a new tank ugh, sore point original stickers next to impossible, i've heard the factory has old stock, dunno how to get my hands on it though. |

Wow, thanks a lot guys really appreciate all your inputs.
Tragedy struck early. I was so excited today(sunday) that i was going to take my SHAOLIN out for a spin after a long wait, leaving all my worries behind and decided to get away from all the routine stuff. So filled her up with 5lts of petrol and was all set. At the begining everything was ok, as i zoom passed the traffic leaving all the 4strokers behind and behaving like a careless teenager was really enjoying the ride then the unexpected has happened, i knew this day would come but not so early.Fuel tank had given away putting an end to my ride. However, the leakage was'nt that heavy and i was like 15kms away from my place, so went back home emptied the tank and dumped the complete fuel in to my SAMURAI. Now its once again in the corner(as it was at its previous owners place), not sure when am going to ride it again............. |

if you really want to use it, just find a way to weld the tank,, i'm sure there must be a scrapyard which will sell old samurai tanks.. just pick one up. atleast you can use your bike then.. |

Thanks guys,
So i will start looking for a used fuel tank, if its in preety good condition will get it repainted otherwise the only option would be to buy a new one and repaint it to grey and there is also an issue with the STICKERS. Any progress on the stickers guys. |
