The initial plan to go to Malshej Ghats was on Sunday, but saturday i had a night out, had booze, had hangover, etc...so did not go.

Sunday night while chatting with Alankar, we made up the plan to go....
We had nothing planned, no route map, no timings decided till 9:30, luckily Rachit's trip log came to the rescue.....i called him and took all the important tips and route, and we were all set to go in the morning at 6:30.

I could not sleep whole night because of the excitement. Saw my clock strike 4:30 and then i somehow slept. And with the 1st alarm ring at 5:30 i was wide awake.

It was 18/01/2010. A cold morning, still dark outside but i was all set to go.

So i left my house at 6:20, dropped my mom off for her training and went straight to top up fuel at majiwada petrol pump, 500 bucks of fuel added, then i went to asha pura temple as i had to wait for my friend to come.
Joined hands, took a pic and started waiting for Alankar.

I met him at around 7 and we were all set to leave, headed towards kalyan with nice cruising speed of 80 and stopped at a bridge to take some start off pics...

Then we started cruising again. The weather was so freaking cold that we could not bear it and slowed down speeds thoda. In about 20 kms we reached the Bhiwandi-Kalyan junction, we got confused and then asked for directions and were back on the ride. All this while the road were fine, then came the road of Murbad (should be named Barbaad considering the roads). For almost another 10 kms, the roads were so crappy that i could feel the vibrations and jerk even after those roads were over.

We stopped at a couple of place to take pics,

Then we reached murbad depot, where we decided to and eat something, we had nice Kanda poha and Idlis. Felt so awesome to refuel our tanks, nice and hot poha in the cold and chilly weather...

Continued the ride again, and we were maintaining speeds between 80-100 on straight roads and 60-80 on curves & turns. As we were on the way we saw a XCD with 2 guys on it...without helmet...with Police written on the number place...but not in uniform. A Dog came out of no where in the middle of the road and these guys went over the dogs....both complete wheels over the dog, we could hear the dog crying, saw the guys somehow balancing themselves, we felt like stopping and doing something for the poor animal. As we slowed down, we saw other dogs there barking and being an unknown area, we moved on. Met those guys ahead and asked them if they were fine, luckily they were.

Continued the enjoy the breeze, open road, and sweet music of the 2 engines, we zoomed kms and kms, when we reached at a place where we were like we have to stop and take pictures. So we took a brief pause took some pics and were back to the track.

Then the ghats started, we had decided not to stop on the ghats as it will be risks and all there are lots of place with precaution boards which said "Rocks falling..do not stop". Se we steadily moved up the ghats and finally reached the tunnel and stopped for a couple of pics and again moved on.

Reached on the top and on looking back we realized that we had crossed malshej ghat. Then we decided to go towards the place called Ojer which rachit had mentioned in his blog, and just started riding again, empty roads, beautifull scenary, clean air and amazing mountains around....perfect!!!

Then we started pushing bikes thoda and we reached 120 -125, and just zipped on those speeds for sometime , we travelled almost 25 kms more and stopped at a place where we saw a vada pav stall and decided to eat.....also called rachit to ask after the beautifull back waters he had mentioned....we realized that we had over shot that by miles so ate and started our journey back to find the back-waters.

All off a sudden when we were at 100 kmph a swift zipped passed us as if we were on 20 kmph and it was on 100

....so we both started pushing in the interest of catching up with it......and it was then that i touch 130 kmp

on my speedo...but still could not manage to catch that swift

Then we started asking people about where the dam was.....and then after taking directions and travelling a small stupid, muddy, bumpy, mud road, we reached a place which looked just like heaven....the back-waters finally!!!!

We spent most of the time there taking pics pics and more pics.....just wanted to click pictures and take that image of the place in head forever.

After spending the amazing time out there... we decided to ride back home......

(did not feel like leaving that amazing weather and scenery)

Our ride back home was a quick one.....did not stop anywhere till temple had cucumbers and then rode back to murbad.....then stopped at a place and had nice sugar cane juice, washed hands and face...and felt zonked

...felt like i needed sleep cos i had slept only for an hour at night.

We started riding back again.....stopped at kalyan toll naka for a fuel top up in the R15, and again continued our journey.....

we reached the place back at 3:15 and just wanted to go home and crash with content mind, peaceful souls and the most productive use of a holiday made....

Malshej is one of the evergreen destinations for me. Every season it looks different & just beautiful..!!
Glad my blog was helpful..!! You thoroughly had fun, am sure..!!
