What the Riders felt:
Neeraj Gulia :
After watching the MI vs KXIP match I was not sure that I would be able to join the group, but after having words with Archit and Prashant I decided that I have to be a part of this trip.
I reached at 6:25 A.M. to MDC sec 5 red lights where Archit and Tarun were already waiting for us. The adrenaline was started to rush in. We started the trip at 6:50am and headed towards the Shimla highway.
My God that was amazing, the zig-zag roads were looking so good, I was following Prashant and to my surprise he was taking curves at an angle of 45 Degree and that was amazing for me. We Crossed Dharampur in no time (Time was still for me, as I was enjoying every single meter of the trip). Up to Solan the highway was superb and there was no difficulty in driving, but as we started the Off road biking it was the test of bike and my riding.
The Off road biking was awesome, it was brilliant and I have no words for that. Every turn was as refreshing as the first ray of sunlight. The roads were really bad and thank god none of the bikes got a puncture. While driving I tried to look at the valley and I almost lost my balance, Prashant then guided me not to look the valley while driving. As we were heading towards the top of the hill temperature started to decrease and I felt the cool breeze, it was so refreshing. The beauty of the hills mesmerized me. As we reached Chail I felt like a champion. The lunch was awesome at the Kailash Hotel in Chail. Enjoyed the return way also. I gained a lot of confidence and was driving with full confidence. I am dying to go for another adventure biking trip.
Kunwar Shantanu :
Well that was a real test for me and my bike. And guess what we ‘passed’. It was fun.
Tarun Gupta :
I really enjoyed riding specially on the unpaved road. The trip was tiresome for me being a first timer, but everything was worth it. It took me two beers and 10 hours of sleep to get back to normal. Thanks Archit and Prashant for making all this possible, you guys have been a great support.
Amit Topwal :
That was really wonderful, especially the ride through off roads. That was my first experience of group ride, although, I was a part of group ride before that but I was sitting on the back seat. Thanks to all who gave me the chance to experience this.
Archit Mittal:
I went to Spiti two weeks ago and told myself not to ride for the next 2 months atleast. But all riders changed my mind and it happened.
First of all, thanks everyone who made it to the ride. That was a real pleasure riding with all of you. All of you are wonderful riders. All of you showed a great spirit by riding in hills for the very first time. I haven’t seen any hesitation from anyone regarding the route, time, place etc. And that’s a very rare thing that one gets to see in a group ride.
We were late in the morning by half an hour, but somehow we managed.
Prashant Bhardwaj:
It was a great ride, and with such riders, it became a memorable trip. The roads covered and the excitement level of the riders was unanticipated. Great Trip we had, and want to say, that all the new riders are appreciable.
It has been a month since my last ride, and around 2 months since my ride uphill. It was time, that the urge to ride up my lovable Himalayas started getting over me… even the snaps of other riders were aiding the “Riding Keeda” within me, to explore something new, to take some unknown Road and just ride along.
My initial plan was to go Renuka ji, as I have never been there and was informed that it was a nice place, with some great scenic roads leading to it. We were all set for it, when on the previous day, it was decided that the ride will be to Chail and not Renuka Ji. I and Archit searched for some alternate road, when we were informed that there exists a road, which has 20 Odd KMs of off-roading. We started our search for such a road, but could only make out that it starts from somewhere near Solan.
Travelogue
We met at 6:30 A.M. on Saturday morning(10th Apr ‘10), and started our journey on NH-22 at around 6:45 A.M. Special thanks to Vikas Malik for coming early morning, to wave us good luck. We started towards Kalka, but not before telling a few Do’s and Don’ts to fellow riders.
The ride towards Solan was smooth, and there was no complaint whatsoever from other riders as well.
At solan, there was a dilemma, as to whether to go to Naldhera or towards chail. We asked Vaibhav about it, and once decided that we should go to Chail, the next Dilemma awaited. Since, the Off-Road part was complete gravel, we thought that the new riders won’t be able to ride along. But, the anticipation shown by them was commendable and they readily agreed to cover that distance.

The off Road part starts from a small road descending towards Ashwini-Khadd. The roads were doable for first few KMs, but after Ashwini-Khadd (7 KMs from NH-22), the roads were nightmarish with sand and gravel all the way through.

While descending on that road, I saw a path, leading to a nullah .We decided to go over there and enjoy the cold water of the stream.

Soon, we started towards Chail. The roads were the same till 7 KMs before chail and we enjoyed every part of that stretch. Hence after, the roads were good, neat tarmac. We reached chail at around 1:00 P.M. headed straight to Hotel Kailash were we satiated ourselves with some nice food.
After filling our tummies, we started our journey ahead to explore Chail. The ascend towards Chail Cricket Ground is scary and we were initially reluctant on going there. I requested Archit to go and give it a try, to see if it was doable, and bring some confidence among other riders. Once Archit scaled that ascend, I went in Next. After that all the riders did it with great ease. The ascend was worth, as it had the best vistas to offer and we were all delighted to face was nature had to offer.
After visiting the stadium, we started our journey pack towards Panchkula. It was a nice ride back home, with some stoppages in between.
Reached Panchkula at 7:00 P.M. in the evening, waived all the riders’ good bye, but not before promising for another great ride.
