It has been a week since I had returned from the tour. Sitting on my office desk, my spirits were high upon successfully completing my first ever solo trip. I tell one of my colleagues sitting beside me “I was travelling all alone in the mountains during the four day long Holi vacation”.
He pauses and then bursts into laughter saying “Heights of Frustration!”
I was like “err? “.
Where did I go wrong? I guess I was expecting some kind of applause or praise because this is something only a few dares to do! Here I was, thinking that traveling for 1200 km on a motorcycle all alone for four days through some very stunning mountainous terrains often on roads hit by landslide, covered with mud and sometimes black ice - was an act of adventure and freedom driven by sheer passionate love for mother nature and the thrill involved in a motorcycle tour.
But I guess most people around me would take it as an act of frustration instead. This is not something a common man does even if he has all the resources, money and time. Society advocates that you sit home watching one of those popular reality TV shows or go out to the malls, eat junk foods and watch the latest Bollywood blockbuster. But if you do something different, it will come for you, hit you hard, tell you what you have been doing is a fool's errand and make you feel utterly worthless!
Well, may be what I did was an act of frustration; maybe I'm blinded into believing a fool's errand to be an adventure. I really don't know. But one thing I can tell you for sure - I enjoyed it like hell! And I will do it again and keep repeating it as long as I am capable of. I did not try to justify or explain this so called ‘act of frustration’ to my colleague. I replied “This is just the beginning”.
