Thanks for the kind words man, but I doubt my lazy-a$$ is not going anywhere near specimens like books, novel, writing, reading etc. not anytime soon. Also, going by your random travel tales thread, poeticism is clearly your forte.

    Okay where were we...

    The moment of truth
There's no denying that everyone of us have a distinctive body clock (the 'circadian rhythms'). I too have one and might I say, it's not one that I am proud of - riding, working, or gossiping, I've got to feel sleepy in the afternoon. It's almost like a norm, irrespective of the situation and I gotta say that I do miss my afternoon nap on heavy duty days. I have done some bit of riding in the past, and this has been a constant, much like my eyes .

With the above mentioned context in mind, I was kinda prepared for what lied ahead, kinda, I mean. The straights during the most productive hours and in a boring motorcycle, while the treacherous ghats in the merciless afternoon. And of course, the delicious poori-bhaji that I ate in breakfast decided to show its weight post digestion during that time. Mother of devil, even the mighty ghats with the best of broken tarmac couldn't prevent my drowsiness. And before I realized, I was already closing my eyelids for more than the usual duration, whatever that is. This was it; I didn't waste time contemplating further - time for a stop/break. To our pleasant surprise, we found a tea place right in the middle of nowhere. For those who know, correct me if I am wrong - Shops or gas stations are a rarity in the entire stretch.

    Check-in, Mangaluru
After a tiring ride (you can say that). We took some rest at the hotel. This 'some rest' lasted for more than a couple of hours, and it was already time to decide a place for dinner - Shetty's Lunch Home, the ghee roast chicken, as they say. Did I click picture?, none as I was busy diggin' the bones. But wait, I checked the archives and here's what I found:

    another summary!

I would definitely recommend this place to first-timers.
Post dinner, we decided to leverage the energy we regained to explore the city. We were the first ones to arrive the city, the rest of the folks were to come the next day. Some random clicks here and there:

such a wasted pic, just here for the sake of it. After a few more rounds to a deserted beach site and and dark alleys, we came back and retired for the night. There was a lot going on in my mind for the next day; we slept in anticipation, and our friends (another couple) were to arrive in the morning. Bekal awaits!

Chaotic day 2: Living upto the name!
Well, you wouldn't call/name a person ChaoSaDDict without the fundamental element of chaos in his/her trails. As the restlessness towards Bekal was overwhelmingly curtailing my thoughts, I totally missed out on an important aspect that could potentially disallow me from visiting Bekal. Now, I know for a fact that Kerala has its own infamous check-posts in borders, and I have heard numerous stories of their random checks too. After staying in the state for two whole years, and uncountable visits to friends, their families & friends & relatives, I have a fair idea of how worse a police affair in Kerala can get.

But why would I worry if I have everything in place, I mean, why would I care to answer a few questions and show my documents to reach Bekal, right?! I cared and worried, the moment I realized that in the list of documents to show, I didn't have an active insurance to show, and this could bring down the entire friggin' show. In the jingbang corporate routine, I totally forgot to renew the insurance. Moreover, this bike is was a gift from Yamaha, and the last transaction from their end was the KA registration of the bike which was based on the earlier insurance from some showroom in Delhi.

Whatta lovely day! - Our friends had already arrived in the morning, and I was still contemplating on how to make this happen hassle-free. My wife called up a local showroom to inquire about the time to do this and we got some answers. Our friends were renting motorbikes, so I asked them to check with the renter if there's an issue - unsurprisingly, they showed the white flag stating that the KL folks might stop to check stuff, and might ask you to turn back; I was like "what the f@#$!" It was already 11:30 hrs and Bekal is a good ~60 kms. If we were to go there, spend time and come back before darkness, it was already late. I had given up hope and we were discussing local destinations. The rented bike was fueled and they weren't so happy to waste it in random visits. All the flame from the light blames were consuming me, and I felt guilty.
Suddenly, the devil horns on my head glowed (this was imaginary, of course). I had to man the f@#$ up and decide that we are doing this. Everyone came a long way with an itinerary and agenda, and I was about to ruin it [in case you didn't know, these are some perks in a group ] Cool, we went to the Yamaha showroom and did the thing for about an hour or so, and started towards Bekal by around 12:45 hrs. Bright sunny day, hot, cordura jackets, new insurance - wow, it felt like home.

We decided to fill petrol in a station right at the outskirts. I saw a pollution check counter. For a moment, my whole world fell apart, *if you know what I mean* I was like, f@$k it, let's see what the law has in store for us today...........

Wow. From a guy who used to run away if the camera was pointed towards him, to a bugger who is clicking multiple selfies!

Unfortunately I got married during an era defined by selfies - good, bad, ugly; the judgement is on and inevitable!
BTW, IIRC you don't really make much of an appearance in photos either. Maybe marriage will change that, monk!
