Last year when we were heading to LEH, we crossed Gramphoo where there is a small board stating turn right for Chandertaal, Spiti. As soon as Ankur and I saw the board we looked at each other and instantly we got to the understanding that we have found our next destination.

Kartik is my school friend. He is one of few people who follow my rides on picasa religiously. Back in summers he accompanied me to a weekend rafting trip to Rishikesh… ofcourse on bike but as a pillion, supposedly this was his first ride. It was tiring but motivating enough for him to start looking at his 4yr old Pulsar 150 in a different way... like a touring machine. So when I mentioned Spiti he readily agreed. We got his bike serviced, control cables checked, tyres replaced with tubeless ones, riding jacket, knee gurads arranged. Though I wanted him to go for couple of rides before Spiti for obvious reasons, and though he tried a number of times, somehow he wasn’t able to go for his maiden ride until Spiti.
