Default K&N Air Filter on an Apache RTR FI

Firstly, I'm planning to help a friend add a new Air Filter to my friends RTR FI.

I've seen carb RTRs fitted with the RC1060 Filter from K&N. And all of them were fixed directly onto the carb. with all the tubing removed.

Nov on a Fuel Injected bike, Where can this be fitted? I Dont want to install it directly onto the engine, due to the air around the engine being warm/hot do to heat produced by the engine.

I was thinking that If there was some place under the side panels, (I'm also guessing the stock air filter goes there, I've never seen the innards of a stock RTR ) Then the K&N FIlters can be placed there and connected with some tubing.

Also, There needs to be some kind of air flow meter for the ECU. Now where will this be found??

the best way to install K&N to the fi is to remove the entire airbox and bolt it directly to the fuel injection unit.................

but that'll be attracting sprays of water when the bike will be washed........

and as far as my knowledge goes the EMS will be monitoring fuel intake as according to the increased airflow but that still doesnt mean that it'll be providind the accurate mixture the engine's begging for...........

"i'll suggest you to stick to the original air filter" as K&N won't be giving you say 1 to 2 bhp boost in power.....

and if you're talkin about the crisper throttle responce.......remember it's a FI,it's already havin that..........

^^ A bit more specific would be better, "has anyone fitted k&n?" on which bike? exposed or inside the air-box and such?

@surajram- Have you tried the K&N RC1100, it's supposed to be a direct fit onto the 220's and R15's so they should suit the Fi's too, but won't putting the free flow air filter make the mixture go thinner than usual? And that would actually make your bike slower rather than faster, you would need to adjust the sensors/Ecm accordingly, but i don't think that is possible with the ECM's provided on any Indian Fi bikes right now

I was under the impression that the ECU monitors the volume of Air flowing into the engine, and would adjust the Air-Fuel ratio accordingly.

Since there isnt much power to be gained from a K&N, my friend decided to stay with the stock filter.
